Never seen it done with a stone like that. I know it's a matter of riping it up. I usually use a ice pick or a copper wire to do it. I know it's a matter of 45degree angle but I'm still perfecting my edges. The way I learned is to start each tooth like a notch and space it out correctly. Attempting my first deer this year with my juniper longbow, chokecherry arrows, and cobalt blue points. Wish me luck. Subscribed now!

I'd like to see this done on an actual arrowhead sized point. Seems like it would really complicate things?

Thanks for this video. I had wondered about retouching the edge of points. A couple of questions came to my mind as I watched this. What were the most common types of rock used by Cherokee for points? There were a variety of rock types used for points that came out of my grandfather's south central Kentucky bottomland on a creek just a few miles from the Cumberland river.

That would be a good question for the Cherokee. They're still around.

Thanks for showing this I have a flintknapping kit in the mail and gonna give it a try. I have a found arrow head that has a bulb at the tip I tried to make it thinner with a indirect method but couldn't get it to chip and was afraid I would mess it up. It was by a giant walnut tree and thought maybe Indians were shooting at squirrels and that's why it wasn't very sharp.

Please don't take stuff like that. If you find it, appreciate it but leave it.

Was this for demonstration or for use? I only ask because the size looks like it belongs on a lance, too big for an atlatl dart, and way too big for an arrow.
