LYRICS:
Scarlet Sky Gavin Dunne 2022
Do you remember the proud times?
Standing so tall
Our golden glow used to outshine all
But I'm falling apart
Try to hold on to my soul
Blight beats through my broken heart
My scarlet sky
Gravity will break and bend
My scarlet sky
Waiting for the end
Just you and I
Stay with me through time, my friend
And we will keep the stars from falling through the
Scarlet sky
Down by the waves they will find me
Savage, defiled
This poison spreading inside me, wild
I'm falling apart
I don't recognize myself
Blight beats through my broken heart
My scarlet sky
Gravity will break and bend
My scarlet sky
Waiting for the end
Just you and I
Stay with me through time, my friend
And we will keep the stars from falling through the
Scarlet sky
Out across the red we rush
Constellations yield to us
Down in the roots she slumbers
As I am torn asunder
The hunger ever stronger
Just let me taste my honour lost
My scarlet sky
Gravity will break and bend
My scarlet sky
Waiting for the end
Just you and I
Stay with me through time, my friend
And we will keep the stars from falling through the
Scarlet sky
Rusted steel
The gravity is negative
Out across the red we rush
Constellations yield to us

My musical tribute to the saddest and chaddest of Elden Ring bosses, Radahn himself & his best buddy Leonard. Heavily inspired by some of my fave bands like Type O Negative & Alice In Chains :) Don't forget to like, comment, share with a friend & all that good stuff and support my Patreon for early music access! www.patreon.com/miracleofsound Ranni's song coming soon :)

Even if you think Radahn was on the “wrong” side of the cosmic war, I don’t think anyone can dispute that Radahn was one of the noblest characters in the Lands Between. Beloved by, and beloved his men in equal measure, learned Gravity Magic just to keep riding his beloved childhood horse even as he grew to titanic size, only reached stalemate with Malenia because she summoned an Outer God to nuke the continent, and even after going mad, was able to kill everyone who tried to take him down, hold back the stars, and keep protecting Leonard from his immense weight. RIP Chadahn.

Radahn lost to Morgott when he attacked Leyndall to take the Elden Throne in the First (possibly) Defense of Leyndall. We see it in the opening cinematic, where Morgott has him pinned to the ground. He was younger back then, though, but his powers were still the same. Also, Radahn's men used fire, which is heretical to the Golden Order, but that might have been after the Scarlett Rot started spreading. Despite that, Malenia only fought Radahn to prevent him from becoming Elden Lord so Miquella's visions could come to fruition. Truthfully, Malenia is the only demi-god who fought for someone else and she hated the Scarlett Rot. She used it only to beat Radahn so she would stay undefeated so people would fear challenging. Even then, Finlay had to carry her all the way back to the Haligtree to discover that Miquella was gone, but they had no idea Mogh took him, because they didn't know who Mogh was.

The saddest thing about Malenia and Radahn's entire battle, it happened because she thought Radahn was the one that stole Miquella, not Mohg. That's the only thing that makes sense as to why they fought, Miquella went missing and the trail led towards Caelid seemingly towards Radahn, when in reality it was underneath Caelid. They fought over a mistake.

This song holds everything I admire about Radahn's lore, and adds an entirely new dimension to his strength. His willpower, his endurance. The first "But I'm falling apart" had me instantly crying. To imagine such a powerful warrior grieving for what he lost, almost sounding like a plea for help. Truly inspirational!

In a way it takes me all the way back to Binary Divide and how you learned to growl just to make the Darkness more authentic for that song, the way you're always teaching yourself and trying something new so each song can grow, feel fresh and unique, and capture something new about the story they each represent, the passion for what you do is outstanding.

One of my favorite things about how this song feels is the majesty of it. This isn't a song about a nameless undead, or a broken shell of a hunter going through the motions. This is a song about a majestic demi-god. It does have plenty of mourning for how low he has been brought, but it is still about the strongest demi-god of the Shattering: Starscourge Radahn.

When I first read the description of the Redmane knight's armour I remember becoming emotional. Thereafter one of my main characters always wore their cuirass and fought with their two handed sword. Since talking with Alexander I would wonder, what will await at the festival, and every time I gazed at Redmane Castle I imagined Radahn waiting for me, proudly. In truth I did wonder why someone of his stature would sit about, challenging Tarnished. It didn't make much sense. The day before yesterday I ventured to partake in the Festival. The brief cutscene before the fight shattered my expectations. Where I always expected to find a wandering Malenia, there was only Radahn, a shell, a shadow of his former self. That night I defeated him one on one, jousting under the scarlet skies, wearing the armour of his knights and the ring of his father. I'm thankful for FromSoft that they made such a character, a true legend, and a worthy end to his grandeur. They treated him with honour, in such way as I don't think many would these days. Radahn was a hero, reminiscent of Hercules, larger than life, his fame eclipsing him in the end. I wished to talk to him, to see him in his full glory, but as the crone forewarned "Wherever you go, only more sorrow" Now, today, I listened to your song, and it brought me to the verge of tears. Thank you Gav for creating this beautiful piece, this tribute worthy of Starscourge Radahn himself. How your voice changed in certain parts to reflect his transformation was chilling, raw and primal. Thank you so much! I've been looking forward to listening to this ever since it came out, but as I'm deliberately slow in my playthrough, today was the day. Can't wait to listen to Ranni's song as well. It's incredible how many songs Elden Ring has inspired for you in such a short time! Fallen Leaves became an instant favourite as well. Be proud of your creations! Love and holiday greetings from Hungary!

Just managed to beat him yesterday, it was a tough battle, but from the lore i gathered and what i saw, id say he was in agony for so long, broken to the point he mentally isnt there anymore and only his bestial instincts remained. A sad end for a noble warrior, but he finally is able to rest forever, with his beloved friend. Re listening to this song now, i feel it is much sadder than when i listened to it before i could play the game. The feelings of Radahn for his horse, his desperation at the memories of his golden years before the scarlet rot, and yet you still feel his stubborness and resolve to keep the stars at bay, even in his rotting state, his love and care for his beloved horse. Truly amazing how the song manages to convey so much

I like how all the songs you create for a game have some segments that sound similar to create a sort of continuity. I observed this first with the dragon age songs even though it was much obvious as they both had one common line in the lyrics while here it's more subtle. 3:15 onwards it sounds reminiscent of some parts of Fallen Leaves. Maybe I'm reading too much, but that's all the more reason to love your songs.
