Tag someone with shoulder pain! In this video, we wanted to have someone demonstrate the movement who has not has not yet been coached on how to properly engage the blade. @Ashley.Hann learns a simple and effective technique of shrugging the shoulder and then pulling it down and slightly rotating the blade and holding it there. You can do the same!!! If you have #ShouldImpingement, a #LabralTear, or #BoneSpurs, then working your shoulder blade motion is crucial!
Try this exercise with or without a band. Record yourself or watch yourself in the mirror as you swing the arm out to the side, keeping the blade down and armpit rotated forward. Our friends @crossoversymmetry make the awesome setup we are using in the video.
If we gave Ashley a heavier band, her shoulder would probably have shrugged up even more. She would have started twisting and contorting her body to compensate. When you learn to lock the blade down and keep your pelvis and core in alignment, you will feel a lot more stability in the shoulder.
Notice that I am maintaining a tight, locked should blade while moving my arm in any direction. The lower traps and serratus muscles are activated the entire time. When the arm goes overhead, the upper traps and serratus will stay engaged!

As a woman this video felt invasive and weird - opening position without context + the slap at the end felt very possessive - I'm assuming Andrew and her are together, but still

As a man your comment felt out of place and weird. I'm sure you're a moron but still?

@@jonharvey55 hey, I wasn't sure I wanted to respond to you because it just sounds like a troll, but here I am trying to stand by my values. While all the men here were cheering the slap in the other comments, I just wanted to give my opinion as a woman. It's not because my comment doesn't reflect your opinions or that "it was out of place and weird" like you said that it means that I am a moron. It's actually insulting, and I don't know what I did to deserve that. Women gets objectified this way all the time and I thought I would help to point it out and de-normalize these behaviors so we can respect women's body a bit more. It wasn't professional nor funny. MoveU puts amazing content out there, it'd be a shame that not all women feels welcomed.
