Olivia said that they agreed that after he was elected that they would stop but I don't think Fitz agreed to that. He fell so in love with Olivia and just can't let go. Right after this conversation Olivia resigned. Here this man is telling her that he is in love with her but his wife is saying your job was just to fill a void that I can't do anymore. Mellie in a million years didn't think that Fitz would fall in love with Olivia. Olivia is now a threat to their marriage because he's willing to give everything and Mellie up for Olivia. Mellie feels like she's not losing everything she's worked hard for.

I have none for Mellie and the more the seasons go along the more I'm glad that I feel the way I do. Yes at first you are to take the wife side that's automatic but then when you see what kind of marriage he was in you feel nothing but remorse for Fitz if anything. It's alot of men in bad marriages that are good guys and deserve better and their soulmates are out there.

If he was in a marriage where he was having sex with his wife and he stepped outside of his marriage that is different story but Mellie wouldn't let him touch her for at least ten years. So there is always a woman out there that will.

But I'm MRS Grant, you are employed by us, you are insignificant. Just keep on keeping him 'happy', go on. You & me, we don't have to pretend anymore, you're the mistress but I'm the wife, FLOTUS. I'm better than you.' Then Liv, even knowing Mellie's role in Defiance & other lies still took on the labels, & shrunk inside.

If Olivia hadn't left the white house I think Fitz would have probably asked Olivia to marry him and then he would've tried to divorce Mellie and step down as president. Olivia knew that and so her leaving was her way of saying I'm in love with you but your presidency is more important. Finish out your term and then in the future we can maybe he together

I wish Olivia had told Mellie, "No, the pin is Fitz, I gave it to him because it is special. This pin was worn by Eisenhower while he was President and I though it would be perfect for Fitz. It has 48 stars on it which makes it very rare. Don't you think it is a nice piece of history for Fitz to display? You don't have a problem with the flag pin do you Mellie?" That's what I would have said to Mellie.

Scandal Fan You do remember Mellie went along with the affair the entire time Fitz was running for President. Now she wants them to stop. Its too late, the damage has been done and Fitz has fallen in love with Olivia. That is what you get for pimping out your husband. Anyway their marriage was long dead before Olivia came into the picture.

+Nadine Trass She turned a blind eye to it when Fitz was running like many married women do. It does not mean they are ok with it, just powerless to stop it and stay married. She didn't 'pimp him out' as you put it until she saw that Fitz wouldn't get over her. She said F**k It and made it benefit her.

If Mellie was in love with Fitz (and she never was in love with Fitz) she would have confronted him when she first realized something was going on. Mellie was powerless because she did not love Fitz. Fitz and Mellie were in a sexless marriage for 10 years. If she was in love with Fitz, that would not have happened and Olivia would not have been an issue. She turned a blind eye because she signed up to be in the White House, being FLOTUS. That was one of Mellie's goals.
