Scale the Summit - LIVE Full Album Bass Play-Through - "V"

Музыка

"V" turned 5 years old last week, and I wanted to commemorate that by doing a full play-through of the album since I never really filmed any play-through videos for these songs. Thank you SO much to all of you who tuned in, hung out, donated, subscribed, followed, and jammed along with me. This was such a blast! Learning these bass parts again was quite a challenge, and I'll always be proud of the two records I did with STS. We've got a sweet community brewing at my Twitch channel, come hang sometime for a stream: / lowenduniversity

Can't believe I just noticed this now. Listening to this reminds me of driving to college 7 years ago or so. I would listen to this so much on my way to and from college. Incredible album and the tone of the bass is phenomenal. You know it's good when you can even hear it on your shitty car sound system.

After watching lots of your reactions, I finally got around to checking out your own music following the Asterism one. As I mentioned there, I was a little bit blown away by The Migration, and am now working my way through your discography. Your expertise is obvious in your reactions, but I had no idea how much I would love your stuff. Honestly, I like it much more than the majority of the songs you react to.

Dude there’s almost no words for Mark, I’ve been a Dreamtheater “John Myung” bass geek since I was 13 and what Mark does is on another level! He’s truly one of the best and most creative Bass players I’ve ever heard! You can tell some in his speaking in his reaction videos, but hearing him do his thing is a different story! I heard of STS before I knew about Mark and when he said he was the bass player on their best albums ( my words not his) I went back knowing he was playing and was jaw dropped!

@@LowEndUniversity It really sucks when you try to find live performances of some of those [early] songs, and some of them were those playthroughs. Could you possibly do another video with The Migration (maybe even The Collective)?

Nice! Always forget about that one. We never played it live and couldn’t even recall how it went when I saw this comment. Just listened to it. Forgot about a lot of those parts! Appreciate the kind words! Fun fact: That song was recorded for “The Migration” and we held it for the next album. 😎

I've just realized there's a playthrough of this album on yt lol Thank you for your hard work! I've been a Scale the Summit fan for more than 7 years now I think, and one of the things I like the most are the basslines, being a bassist myself. So this video is a HUGE help to learn these songs. Both your tone and skills are amazing. Keep it up!

Hyperdistortia I am doing one for The Migration in the future. I’d say “V” is probably more playable on a 5, you’d have to modify a few parts. The Migration would be harder.

@@LowEndUniversity makes sense. When I saw you guys do a show after V released you still played a good amount of The Migration, some of The Collective, and even a song or two from Carving Desert Canyons iirc, so something had to be cut. That opening bass melody is probably the best thing on the album though, would've been nice to see it still :)
