What a well done tutorial ! Looking forward to part two !! Great tip on that packing paper. I've always used TP. Now I'm going to give this a try.

Thanks so much! I've also tried with TP in the past, but I don't like the texture as much - I think the packing paper looks better in this scale! Happy Building 😁🍻
Great job.You brought the tank to another level.

You can paint the model before placing common nets, etc. Just place plastic wrap over the model and sculpt the tarps and nets . This makes them removable for easier painting.

My too, ultraprofessional tutorial with 4 angel cover. I think its usefull for smaller scale like 28mm 1/56, 1/48 and even 1/72. Definitive 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Thank you very much! And you're right - these techniques should work just fine for any scale you're working in 😁🍻
I love the idea of using white glue, the only problem I have is about how to get the decals underneath, I found using rigging wire for ships and attaching it with those is both realistic and convenient, as you can also paint the netting (with stripes for example)
@SpruesNBrews

Ahh yes - generally I'll try to put the nets in place where the decals might be covered up by something else already (such as a track link or something), but you're right - it can be tough if you want a star to show through from beneath the net 👍
That’s awesome all this time I been trying to figure out how to create the hessian tape camo, and the answer was always under my nose ugghhh. Thank you beer guy now I can build the other Airfix Firefly and Churchill tank.
Finally got an opportunity to check out your vids. Off to a great start 👏. Kind of making me want to make a vid😅

Well executed. I do have a bit of constructive feedback. Firstly, great build you have there! And a very nice instructional video. Now for a "rivet counter" comment. Hessian tape was "generally" about two inches wide off the rolls. Also used were various materials such as burlap. In 1/35 scale these strips should be about 1/2 to even 1/4 of the width that is shown as an example on your model. Again great video.

Ahh yes! Good point for sure - I took some artistic liberties & made them a little wider. Easier to paint for sure! But appreciate it 👍

Great vid, do you paint the netting before application? I will be using gauze
How do I secure the stowage to the tarp?
Which site/company do you use for your after market stuff?
You probably won’t see this but I was just wondering how would you do hessian tape on the turret or the hull? Would it still be with tape or would you recommend something else, I’ve seen epoxy putty being used but I don’t know if that would work as it might look a little too thick. Also great tutorial, much love
@SpruesNBrews

Hey there! Yes - I'd stick with tape for the turret & hull to keep the look consistent. A good rule of thumb is to try to visualize what pieces of the tank the individual strips would be attached/tied to so that everything looks realistic. Can't have strips just floating in space! 😁 Happy building!

Just asking why do you have to put them on before painting. I’m new to modelling and don’t know why so could some one tell me
Would a dryer sheet work for any of this stuff?

I haven't tried it personally, but you could give it a go!
Thanks - great video. My main question is, what held those nets and strips on the barrel in place - on the real tanks?
@SpruesNBrews
2 жыл бұрын
A very good question! If you check out some historical photos, you can see that it's generally a mess of netting, webbing & the Hessian Strips. Quite a mess! But I'm sure once you wrapped it all on there, it would be pretty tough to get off. I wouldn't be surprised if they used any bits of rope or wire they had laying around, as well. 👍🍻
Do you have any Affiliate links to the Stowage? (Before I order from Amazon)

Hmmm the net we use in Scandinavia on our tanks in winter looks different. How or where do you find the right mesh?
@SpruesNBrews

Ahh interesting! I picked this netting up at a local hobby store years ago & unfortunately I don't remember the manufacturer. But you can use a gauze or a cheese cloth to achieve a very similar result 👍

@@SpruesNBrews Tank you very much! Great channel! In our winter camo, it seems that the holes in the mesh are much bigger (on actual tanks in service) than the mesh you use. I guess it is some NATO standard. Must be possible to find somewhere.
@SpruesNBrews

@@fredmidtgaard5487 ahh yes! This is designed to look like old-school (specifically WWII British) tank camo - you're totally right that modern stuff is quite different. I think I've seen some on spruebrothers.com... they might not ship out your way, but maybe you can pinpoint a brand name!

I bought this netting at a local hobby shop years ago, and unfortunately I don't remember who the manufacturer was. You can get a very similar effect using cheese cloth / gauze as well! 👍
Interesting will try next time I build a tank. Only draw back is I'm British like the tank you camouflaged so don't know how big a quarter is 😂
