    One thing to remember is that drybrushing is hard on brushes - so try to use ones that are older and that you wouldn't use for detail work (miniature & armour modeler, so I live in both worlds). Most cost effective dry brushes - especially for large surfaces - are actually dollar store makeup brushes.

    Great two part video(s) . I've tried a couple of other different methods and they turned out okay and as all good modellers always looking out for some new technique and I found it with your excellent videos. I have used masking tape many times but for different uses such as weapon straps , straps in general , webbing etc etc. So I have all of the bits and will build an AFV Churchill Mk.VI I have . Many thanks for showing this cheers.

    Really awesome video dude. Apologies if you’ve covered this elsewhere but is there a “ formula” that should typically be followed? By that I mean like.. 1. Build 2. Modify ( e.g add fuel holes/ add stowage/ Camo) 3. Primer & base paint etc. would like to confirm the right order for states such as chipping, pin wash, weathering, dust/ dirt…assuming decals are usually last! Thanks again 🍻

    Fantastic tutorial, one question. Once the netting and tarps were on, did you then spray everything (tank,tarps and net) with the olive drab and then paint the netting separately with a brush?.

  • @SpruesNBrews

    @SpruesNBrews

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes! Good question - you can dry brush over the tarps with a slightly lighter color to help accentuate the texture there 👍

    @@SpruesNBrews ah okay. I've only done netting once before and painted the model, then painted the netting and added it to the tank but it was very messy. Your way certainly seems a lot less time intensive and a much cleaner way of doing things. Thank you.

    Unfortunately I'm using some scraps of netting that I have left over from years ago... I don't remember who the manufacturer was at this point! It is a 1/35-specific product & I've seen some similar ones on the market for sure. Sorry I couldn't be of more help! And thank you for watching - I appreciate it! 👍

    Whare did you get that net or what's the name of the company? It's alot thicker than gauze I use, it looks really nice! I make the tape tied in the netting too these a ribbon like material that's textured it's tedious but looks fantastic when done and this netting looks perfect for it for the size of holes and thickness of strands it's just a perfect size! Looks more burlap sack size eh

    So what’s the purpose of putting on a clear coat? Thanks

  • @SpruesNBrews

    @SpruesNBrews

    2 жыл бұрын

    Good question! There are a few reasons to add a clear coat: Gloss coats are important to apply after you've finished your painting work because they protect the paint against chemicals & products that you're going to be using during the weathering process. Gloss coats also help decals adhere to the surface of your model, and also help create a better surface for washes to fill in the nocks & crannies on your build. Matte coats (which usually goes on after weathering is complete) are to help protect your finished build so you can handle it without damaging your hard work. They also help reduce shininess & make your model look more realistic. Hope that's helpful! Happy building 👍

    I think the Churchill tank was a poor example of applying camo netting, especially over the upper track guards, as they were most certainly ripped off in combat, so a pretty pointless exercise in my opinion. The netting looks good on the turret and the overall effect is very convincing.

    I've seen a few reference photos of Churchills in the bocage pretty loaded down & still wearing their side skirts, and I mostly went with this kit because I had it & it needed an upgrade anyway. Got the job done 👍
