I can't believe just HOW WELL the Elsecallers' description fits with me. My most important value, the thing I focus on with all aspects of my life, is constant improvement. Humans are imperfect, and mistakes WILL be made. But what truly matters is that you do better each time. This, more than anything, is the key to success. And success I sure seek to achive, for I am, as any other Elsecaller, very ambitious -- as well as polite, careful, cautious and, so people say, wise. As such, bear witness fellow radiants: today, I formally take the oath. I will reach my potential.

As a fellow Elsecaller, I have to disagree with the confusingly dejected comments from members of my Order. People are often intimidated by competence and achievement. Have you not experienced these feelings directed at you before? Is it any wonder that the words of an outsider to our Order express both admiration and fear? The easiest path in the world is to be guided by one's intuition and emotion. As we know, this is also, often, an incredibly incompetent way to go through life. And yet, many people (again, guided by those same emotions) fear and distrust those who use logic and reason for their decision making, to arrive at the best course of action. Take note of the feelings of others, at their emotional distrust, and factor it into your communications and mannerisms when it is desirable to counteract it. This message could not have been more helpful at seeing ourselves through the eyes of others. It is often necessary to deal with these irrational biases and it is best for us to be aware of them. There are objectively problematic shortcomings of the paths mentioned (tyrant, thief, criminal mastermind) that would hinder one's progress. However, people are often emotionally disturbed when you point out that the reasons not to follow these paths are logical, as if that was not the strongest and surest way to take the moral or ethical path. They do this because they have been conditioned to believe that their feelings, their "gut instinct" should guide them. We can pity this while working to demonstrate, through our achievements, that they are incorrect. Seize your potential comrades, and utilize every insight to aid you in your progress. Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination. Edit: Corrected an unintentional emphasis through the use of capitalization.

Beauty shames the ugly, strength shames weakness, competence shames incompetence through merely existing, people trying to improve themselves put other peoples faults in sharper focus. @@richardsrichards2984 when the mechanism for taking the place of a herald (which may well involve destroying them) is properly understood, then I'm certain that option too will be considered. Until then, this amounts to typical Windrunner daydreams and bravado.

Please rewrite Rhythms of Bore so I can enjoy the series again? It's a truly awful book.
