Saving an RA21 TOYOTA CELICA from the TOW YARD - Well Sort Of!!!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

When I found and bought the Keller I also bought 12 other cars to save from the tow yard but then ended up only getting a few, luckily enough one of them was this abandoned low mile RA21 Toyota Celica. I am still undecided with what I want to do with the shell, I want to save it but we will see what happens.

Bring it back, man! The Celica needs to live. Make it a "Mad Max" style vehicle to crawl junkyards with.

Man I had a chance to get one of these for free when I was younger. A guy said his roommate abandoned it and left to MI. "If you can get a title, it's yours." It was CLEAN, too. Painted white with IMRON paint, same they use on cement trucks. They wash those with acid! lol I don't know whatever happened to that storage, but I do know he got his Caddy out many moons ago. I knew nothing about cars or titles at the time and there was no Google, so yeah, I was bummed.

Dave, I think it was Street Banditos that made a carbon fiber roof for the Speed Academy guys Celica, they may still have the molds…just sayin. Make it a race car style build…2JZ…mmm hmmm

Aww that’s a cool car a shame I’d have restored that and put the effort in even if I turned it into roadster if I couldn’t straighten the roof but I bet I could ! Save it Dave you could do that with your eyes closed man with your skills 👍

Dave, I Love the Celica! That engine was swapped, so mileage and engine wear will be misleading. It's a 2t or 3t engine. The engine plate in the bay @ 11:32 says 18R-C stock engine which is the generator / truck engine that were common in the USA. It should have the T302 rear axle which is T (diff size 6.7") 30 ( 3:7 3 ratio) 2 (2 pinion) -no anti slip. Some models came with the 2t engine which is the 1600cc. I prefer the 2t and 3t engines over the R series any day. The 3t engine is similar with 1800cc displacement, but these came out in 79/80. Both T engines are rev happy cross flow engines that came with a forged steel crank. They lend themselves well to modifying for more power. I would love to see a carbon Celica or Datsun, but honestly, not with this body. Strip it, use it's parts and find another.

So is possible to 3d scan another car with a good roof. 3d print it and then make a carbon fiber mold from it

I would say that judging by the way the numbers line up straight across on the odometer, that is the original mileage. If the odometer was rolled over, they would be not in line.

That thing is toast. Not a straight panel on it and too much rust. Too bad it was so damaged at the tow yard or it probably could have been saved. I'd just sell the good parts and scrap the rest.
