Saving Abel, originating in 2004 in Corinth, Mississippi, was founded by Jared Weeks and Jason Null. The two musicians met in the local music scene, bonding over songwriting before forming the band. Null’s musical journey began with his older brother’s influence, while Weeks grew up in a musically inclined family. Initially playing as a duo called Shade of Grace, they performed a mix of Christian and romantic songs in local venues.
Producer Skidd Mills encouraged them to adopt a more mainstream rock approach, leading to the creation of their breakout single "Addicted". The duo recruited additional band members, including drummer Blake Dixon, bassist Eric Taylor, and guitarist Scott Bartlett. They recorded an independent album in 2006 and caught the attention of major labels with "Addicted", which Weeks wrote while working at a hospital. Signed by Virgin Records, their self-titled major-label debut in 2008 featured hits like "Addicted" and "18 Days", achieving commercial success and extensive touring with notable rock bands.
Their second album, "Miss America" (2010), debuted at number 24 on the charts, with singles like "Stupid Girl" and "The Sex Is Good". They supported this album by performing for US military personnel. In 2012, they released "Bringing Down the Giant" under Sony's eOne label, but it had minimal promotion. Weeks left the band in 2013 due to mental health and substance abuse issues, later entering rehab.
Scotty Austin replaced Weeks, and the band released "Blood Stained Revolution" in 2014. They continued touring despite several lineup changes. In 2021, Weeks rejoined the band, leading to the release of "Shade of Grace - Twenty Year Songs". Saving Abel recently released new tracks "Baptize Me" and "Fire", with "Fire" charting at number 36. Despite some confusion about Weeks' status, he remains the frontman, performing at upcoming gigs.

I play bass for Scotty Austin( the vocalist for TTB and lead singer of saving abel) and fun fact I'm the first bassist for saving abel...not Eric Taylor. I love Eric and we are buddies; but yall heard me on some of the songs on that record. Beautiful day, beautiful you, drowning (face down) and a few more that were not released. I didn't get fired, I left to be in a band called "Ingram Hill" that was signed to Hollywood records. I love all my brothers in saving abel and am loving my time back with my brothers in the scotty austin band! This is a true band of brothers; brothers fight and we are all boys. God bless ALL Saving Abel fans and everyone that helped give all of us a life we could only dream of! THANK YOU!

What ever happened to Ingram Hill? You guys were great.
I'd like to see a video on Orgy. They were huge for a short while and seemed like they were going to be rock mainstays like many of their peers but just kind of disappeared from the mainstream music industry overnight. Saw them a month ago with Cold and they're still great performers.

Saving Able played a show in San Antonio on 4-20-24. They were really good.! Jered mentioned how we all have to take care of ourselves because addiction and mental illness can be devastating. Looks like he’s strong and focused on band success.Good luck guys .. looking forward to see you again!

this seems to be a thing I've heard from a lot of people. They offered me pain killers after routine surgery but I wanted to stay away from that stuff.

@@rnrtruestories I broke my spine in three places, and surgery isn't an option. I had to switch to medical marijuana for pain treatment. The Army's answer was : "Here, choke down these Percocets. ". Honestly, I'm much better off today without the pills.

A couple years ago a dentist prescribed my niece (late teens early 20s) thirty 10mg oxycodone with a refill after pulling her wisdom teeth. My sister took them away after a couple of days, wise decision. And what the Hell

I lived in the Florida panhandle in 2008 and this butt rock stuff was everywhere lol. Saving Abel came through pretty often if I remember right. The local radio stations (x1015, 99 Rock, TK101) actually did a good job of getting involved with the local scenes, playing local music, promoting shows, and interviewing smaller bands on air at decent time slots.

LOL "butt rock" 😂 What does that even mean?!? 🤣
I know Jared to this day and he’s a solid dude. His wife is a sweetheart and his daughters are rad.
King or ironic that he wrote a song named Addiction on an actual prescription pad. You can't make this stuff up.
I played at the New Daisy back in the day. It was my favorite place to play. I never played at Newby's, but I definitely went to plenty of shows there.
I loved "Addicted" and still do. As a middle-aged gay Bear, this was one of the songs I used to love to sing at Bearaoke at The Cuff in Seattle in 2009-12. And, yes, I used to sing the uncensored version as it damn well should always be.
I'm so addicted to all the rock n roll true stories i view 🎶
Cheers from the UK!
I remember their name but nothing they made. I honestly felt like I was seeing every album cover for the first time in this.
Bringing Down the Giant is my favorite song by them
Some lovely drumming
Great video.
I thought 18 Days was an underrated song, only heard it maybe 5 times on the radio but I remember it. I thought "Addicted" sounded tropey, by the time it was out opiates were a serious problem on the street & several of our favorite rockstars from the 90s already sang about & died around that stupid drug.
I can remember them . They would come on Sirius radio back around 2004 or 05
Please do Geggy Tah next!!!
Poor man's Nickelback.
Can you please do an episode on the band Neurosonic, there big hit was "So many people". Love the videos, keep it going. Thanks!
I’m sure they are rad dudes, I remember walking past them playing on a bar stage while they played 18 days a few years after they’re peak. Just a random memory.
Mediocre generic 2000s rock. Great vid as always brother.

Define "butt rock" 🤔
"Sad story" was bait --rep
The problem with censorship is #/!&@*¥£π∆> Screw radio.
I don't like when a band changes singers but keeps the same name. It worked with AC/DC and a few others. But Motley Crue, Black Sabbath and others lost a lot of fans with their new singers. Not that the singers were bad. They just weren't the voice everyone thought of, so it didn't work. The singers voice is what I think of when I hear a band name. If you get a new singer. Change the name. I know people will be offended by that But that's just how I feel.
"The first song he learned was Freebird".... right.
How the hell is this a SAD story?

Never heard of em. Funny how they thought they might be a Christian band and then became the furthest thing from that.
I'm suprised you didn't cover the drummer getting arrested for being a chomo. That's part of the reason for the lineup changes.
It is so funny. These guys are such blatant generic sell outs. They practically admit it and they acknowledge that people confuse them for all the other generic bands around at the time. These guys helped usher in the death of rock with their generic sound.
Christian rocks sucks!! Even if the music is good, the lyrics ruin it
