I am 64, and i have always looked after money, beauty, acceptance, glory, comfort and safety...i always wanted to save my life...as my recent google picture shows...used to be a kickboxing champion when younger not fearing anybody...i now accept i have been wrong...now, i have a lot of fear of eternal darkness...and i am so bad a sinner...i hope God changes my heart and His Spirit dwells in me...please God, forgive me!!!

Hey Kao bang, you are one of the ‘lucky ones’ !!! Thank God, you are realising this, before its too late (ie before you die). If you have asked for God’s forgiveness for your past, then He surely will have. He wants nothing more than that and for you to live with Him in eternal bliss… Be at peace if you’ve given up your old self (to save yourself) and seek Him from here in out. Peace.

I would much rather lose my life in this world to gain salvation in the next. I pray for forgiveness in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ for all my failings.

currently I'm going through pretrial in a serious case falling through great depression finding it hard to find work because of my charges. No help from the court. No sign of mercy or understanding from my opposition. Falling into suicidal thoughts and accepting all the wrong things because I am falling behind the status qou of this life. But then I am reminded that this life is only temporary for excuse my language but fuck it give up on the ideals of this world even though Its not compliant with the norms of our society carry my cross let them be who they will be and me be who I will be know that although I'm not perfect I'm a believer in Jesus and the holy trinity and not a believer in this world. Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I shall fear no evil. For anyone going through it remember there's cats like me at the brink of breaking but will not be broken. The opposition will not win. No I'm not talking about the opposition from man but the spiritual opposition they will not say alas we have swallowed him whole.

Thank you Lord for your precious Word. Please help us. In Jesus name.

It's saying we need to die to ourselves (not literally, as in physical death. Because what is most important? Physical life or spiritual life/ Eternal life?). My example and my personal "dying to ourselves", is I am in daily combat with temptations, which would result in sin, if flirted with, eventually. So dying to myself/ denying myself/taking up my cross, etc., is to RESIST temptation by counting it pure Joy in Him, who took up THE CROSS, for our sakes/ bearing the weight of the world's sins, upon Himself, for us, out of LOVE. That brings tears to my eyes and MOTIVATES ME, to die to myself (from within, out of love for HIM), whom I have accepted as my Lord and Savior, to follow Him. The Joy I feel, from fleeing from temptation and sin, to Honor Him, for His Glory, is far beyond any joy I can get or have from ANYTHING this world can give me. To me, dying to self is simply sacrificing what might bring pleasure (worldly) to myself, and fleeing from that, to follow him, by Faith and Love for Him, because of His neverending Grace! Also, the willingness to be ridiculed, persecuted, laughed it, mocked, etc., even unto death, for in exchange to Share the Gospel message of Salvation, share the good news, share and plant seeds for the Glory of Jesus, is also part of the whole denying ourselves in order to lift the Savior's entire message and good news of Salvation. Embrace THE CROSS! Lose our worldly selves for His Name's Sake, in order to Save it, by Him, through Him, and For Him!

I’m assuming that this is a process ? Overnight one can’t deny oneself ? Reading and praying will help us deny ourselves? As we get tested a long the way?

It is an ongoing process. See Romans 12:1 In view of God's mercy , present our bodies as living sacrifices.... This is a daily submission. and of course life long challenge.

Hi K Lor, would you care to expound on this? I believe that the Word of God does not contradict itself, therefore, there is surely a deeper explanation that supports both Mark 8: 34-38 and Romans 10: 9-10.

Always thought deny yourself meant deny worldly things and accepting things of god.

But how do we do this?

Christ laid his life down for us and do you think we would do the same for him and the Gospel? I don't think most people who claim to be Christian or a follower of Christ would do the same for him. I understand their lot is here they don't believe in eternal life, they only believe in this temporary state of being 😢

That's a tough paradigm shift to make. Letting go of this life for what's promised eternally. Especially when it comes down to more than just giving your will to the Lord, and your actual physical life is at stake. The old martyrs went to their physical deaths. Getting to that point is a total paradigm shift .

People who are the "saviors of their own lives" are the "mundane and world-minded" people, who want to show themselves as the "winners of this world", who COVER UP their crimes with the lies that belong to the kingdom of the lies = Hell . They DID NOT renewed their worldly minds to have the MIND of JESUS CHRIST = THE TRUTH , among them the members of those churches REJECTED by God in the Book of Revelations, they ARE the people that belong to Hell.
