Yes! These would definitely make great gifts! I love that you can make them with the fabrics you like.
So during a 1 a.m. bout of insomnia, I started watching this....and went down the rabbit hole researching that cutting board. I WILL own one....I'm somewhat challenged with a rotary cutter and regular ruler.

Thanks Marilene! I really like making my own sponge. I feel the way it feels in my hand when I am using it much better than the store brought brands.
Awesome

Thanks for another great video and money saving idea. I'm definitely doing both of these for my kitchen and I like that you can match your decor with fabrics that go with your kithen colors. Just saw that the mesh comes in many colors to go with fabrics. They would be so cute in a jar so you always have extras!

Hi Thanks for sharing. Question on the stuffing....Would it get moldy or Does it dry quickly?

I think you could even stuff it with a dollar tree sponge cut to fit so you wouldn't have to worry about that happening.

Hi Rita. I have been using the sponge for a little while now (about 3 weeks). I don't see any molding yet. But I figure if it doesn't survive the wash at least I found a use for the scraps of fabric I have lying around.
What if you layered the tulle?

It might be possible.
Where did you get your table?

The information is in the video description.
I think it’s a nice idea for gifts or to use up scraps. But I would not say that you save money making these if you have to buy the materials (and never if you include your time- even at minimum wage). I wash my storebought sponges 🧽 in the washing machine so they last me a long time. (I also sew and knit dishcloth - just not to save money but because they look pretty).

Hi Elisabeth. I never thought of washing my store bought sponges. I always threw them away. Going to give that a try.

On saving money, it would depend. It she is using time already allocated to "watching over" her other machines when they run and ripping out some sponges, its would be upping her efficiency. If she's doing this in off time...its just that, hobby time that you normally wouldn't get paid for anyway. If she was using these as an add on to a craft booth, its basically scraps and time she's charging for other projects that she sells.
I love your ruler where can it be purchased

Where did you find your ruler?

Hi BoxingGirl. It's called the QuiltCut2 Fabric System. Unfortunately I don't believe they make this anymore. I have been looking on line and no longer see it. I got it off amazon and wanted to buy a replacement mat for it. It looks like they are not making it anymore. It's a shame cause I love using this. It makes cutting so much easier.
Could you omit the stuffing and just have it flat
@BoricuaSewingCrafts

Yes. You can do that if you like.
Could you use tulle?
@BoricuaSewingCrafts

I believe you can. Just have to make sure it is strong enough to use. It might tear if it's not thick enough.

Several layers of tulle would work, I am thinking.
