    As a diy'er who dabbles in detailing a few cars on the side in addition to my own, I have to tell y'all, that was a cool video! Lots of little tips and trips along the way - like removing the polish with Ceramic Gloss. Never would have thought of that! Plus, the Gold Standard polish and pad look like great products for the kind of work I do (quick enhancements).. Can't wait to try them out! 👍

    If we don’t take durability and application into concideration, what would be the main difference between a product like Ceramic Gloss or Quick Beads compared to DIY ceramic coating?

  • @diydetailofficial

    @diydetailofficial

    Жыл бұрын

    The only advantages of DIY Detail Ceramic Coating is durability and chemical resistance. DIY Detail Quick Beads and Ceramic Gloss will provide some chemical resistance, but not as much as the thicker DIY Detail Ceramic Coating. Beading will be equivalent on all 3. In an ideal situation, start with a base of DIY Detail Ceramic Coating, and add to that DIY Detail Ceramic Gloss or Quick Beads when you wash as maintenance.

    How does it work with using ceramic gloss to spray and wipe off the polishing residue? With Polish still on the paint, I would think the Ceramic gloss doesnt have a chance to bond good if you're mixing it with polish and don't first remove the polish? The more aggressive your clay towel(or bar) the higher the risk of marring the paint (which usually requires polishing after). Sometimes you need more aggressive clay for certain jobs but you’ll likely need to polish to remove the marring, whereas our towel works great for most jobs and if you use it the way we teach (no pressure) it’s great for coated cars or regular details no problem

    At the 3:10 mark Yvan cleans the surface with DIY Detail Rinseless Wash. Then Nick adds Iron Remover, to add more lubrication for claying.

    I personally never dry a vehicle by hand. Always use a leaf blower. Benefit also gets water out of the small areas such behind license plates,mirrors etc. the cost of pad washer I can buy way more pads, wash them by hand at the end of the day. I don’t like a pad spinning around on plastic ridges. What are your thoughts on Americana pads? LC seems to be the favorite. They’re well made. I’ve not tried your polishes yet. Been a big fan of 3D One

    A spray polish! That’s nice! Question - will this polish stain rubber or plastic / vinyl parts? As I noticed that you guys didn’t mask off the car. I had the unfortunate part of staining the rubber parts of the windows as well as a bit of the factory blackout tape (really hate those) on my Seltos and it was brand new car then as well.

    So safe to say that when this is released, we won’t need to mask off the car plastic and rubber trims? That will really be a real nice time saver if that’s true.

    This is helpful, but you guys always say "in just one step." But it's really about 4 or 5 steps. And this would take longer than an hour. And I don't have any of those tools. So it's a bit more of a production to get started. But thanks.

    Come on guys, an hour? Sure if you have two guys and only work 1/3 of the vehicle. Did you think nobody would notice you skipped the passenger side and the back in addition to the roof? Hype the efficiency all you want, but telling a DIYer they can wash, prep, and polish their paint in an hour is a flat out lie. All you’re doing is setting expectations way too high and will make a person rush the job, make mistakes, and have terrible results. Not great for your brand.

    It’s far from a lie, yes parts were edited out because many people don’t like to watch a 1 hour long video. Here’s a video shot in real time. kzread.info/dash/bejne/gGZ616aaf6bcYNY.html

    @@diydetailofficial did you think I wouldn’t check the video?? 1. It’s an hour and 36 minutes, not an hour as claimed. 2. There are two people working on it, not just Ivan. 3. It’s a tiny Miata. Nothing like the giant suburban in your video where you claim one person can do it, and imply even a suburban, in an hour. Show me a video where someone does all of the steps you show in this video alone in an hour, and actually do a good thorough job.
