Appreciate your honest review. Im curious to see if those defects affect the shootability. Id like to see a follow up video on your thoughts. Im still excited to get mine in 7mm prc. Ive always thought of savage as kind of the underdog that shoots great

Also I can’t stand and I mean can’t stand plastic trigger guards. I bought a 111 that was 600 dollars and for it to have a plastic trigger guard makes me sick.

I am not at all happy with this rifle and am calling this one a flop. It is only my sample of one though, so there may be other great experiences differing from mine. Thank you for your comments.

If you haven't already done so, you should contact Savage customer service. They've been very good to deal with, in my experience. Sorry you've had some issues. I just bought the same gun in .308 and it's flawless, just as I'd expect of Savage's quality. (I own a BUNCH of Savage rifles and never had any problems like that.) Plus, I didn't care about the muzzlebrake because it's getting replaced with a suppressor anyhow.

I made full contact and went back and forth for over a week regarding this. I had always had wonderful experiences with all of my Savage Rifles prior to this. Unfortunately, the CS person I was working with admittedly had no knowledge about the product/s we were discussing. This was their first mistake as any dealings should be with someone that has at least a general familiarity with their products. The second mistake was the attempt to convince me that the magnum bolt head was a custom one off built, assembled, and hand fitted piece for each firearm. We both know that this is not the case as these are not custom firearms. I was willing to deal with the rust/oxidation, and air-soft muzzle brake issues but the bolt head story was unfortunately the deal breaker. I may give them another chance in the future but it is unlikely as I have started the process of building my own bolt action rifles. Thank you so much for your comments.

Thank you sir for your video. I am interested in this rifle in a 308. What tool did you use to remove the factory muzzle brake? Did the manufacturer cerakote the barrel with muzzle brake installed? If so did you see any cetakote on the muzzle brake threads?

Looks like the are using mim parts on that bolt. I bought the high country in 6.5prc and the chamber was real bad. When I would shoot a round and eject a shell there would be machine marks all over the brass. I traded it in on a Bergera and haven’t looked back.

I went back and forth with Savage and was told by their customer service that the bolt head was custom fitted to the body and that I would have to package and ship it back to Savage for their review. Knowing this is not a custom bolt, I called them out on it and was again told that these are fitted at the factory. Not true by my information gathering. The packaging and shipping would be at my expense along with the 1+ hour drive to the UPS location that would accept and ship a firearm (UPS remote stores are forbidden to do this). I calculated the cost at a little over $60.00. I was told by their CS they do not help with shipping it back and it would be on me to take care of. What I did the following weekend is take it to one of my LGS and showed it to them. They looked at the issues I pointed out and offered me a trade in at only a $150 loss of what I paid so I gladly took it considering that there was only a $90 difference between the trade and shipping, but no wait time to replace it. I went with the trade in. Never fired it. Will never buy another Savage. There are so many options out there with better fit and finish. I also do not appreciate misinformation to protect a company name. This is the main reason for my decision. I did not publish this in a follow up as I do not like to totally bash a brand as I am only a sample of 1 but it was enough for me. Sorry for the long winded response. Thank you for your question.
