Good idea. But without night life, pubs clubs,openess to become a tourist destination is rather difficult. Music, entertainment etc are taboo in Islam and other religious restrctions dress code sharia laws can discourage people to visit Saudi Arabia which infact is Muslim Holy place. Muslim conservatives may disturb the today life and oppose modern changes .

Music and real entertainment are not forbidden If you want what suits your sexual instincts from semi-nude beaches to ((night life??)) nightclubs, pubs etc these things do not exist and the Saudis do not want them. There are ( tens of millions ) of Muslims who visit Saudi Arabia annually and they need and deserve (respectable) entertainment places for their families .

All gulf countries are trying to replicate the UAE economic model because they know demand on oil will decrease in the next decade, this will put some serious competition for UAE since every neighboring country will offer what Dubai offers, are they going to succeed tho? Only time will tell Dubai had to make some compromise and allow certain things Saudi on the other hand won't tolerate these certain things so we will see how things will work out, all the best to their people tho.

@@decibel333 Saudi Arabia has no taxes, free healthcare, free education, very low crime and clean roads. In addition, Saudi has good wages, good educations, airlines and etc. It’s good to have restrictive laws because too much freedom will allow people to do what they want, such as alcohol, smoking, parties and etc., so there’s nothing wrong with being ultra conservative.

They make 300 billion a year from oil .. The US government spends about 3000 billion dollars a year .. 800 billions a year on the U.S military So the U.S military spends a 1000 billion every 15 months or so ... While Saudi Arabia plans to spend 1000 billion dollars over 10 years on these mega projects .. So it's not as crazy as it seems .
