Saturday Night Fever is considered to be one of the best selling albums in recorded music history. It was the highest selling movie soundtrack for years, staying at #1 on the charts until the record was broken by The Bodyguard soundtrack (Whitney Houston). The Bee Gees also wrote for John Travolta's next big movie - GREASE! If you want to see another Bee Gees video that has clips from this film, then check out "You should be dancing". It shows them performing with little brother, Andy in between scenes of John Travolta just tearing up that dance floor! You will be movin' & groovin' in your seats too! 🕺💃

@DICK TRICKLE yeah, I think so too. Half of the album was the Bee Gees performing Bee Gees songs. The other half was other groups performing (like "Disco Inferno" by the Tramps), but a few of those songs were WRITTEN by the Bee Gees and performed by someone else.

Okay, so I just looked it up. There are 17 tracks, originally spread across two double-sided records, 4 of which were orchestral pieces. Of the 13 songs left, The Bee Gees wrote and performed 6, wrote one performed by another ("If I Can't Have You"), and someone else did a version of "More Than A Woman".

'Night Fever' was a BEE GEES written and performed song, the movie sound track. As were nearly all the songs from that movies they were written and performed by the BEE GEES. Check out 'Staying Alive' and Barry in his tight white trousers, l think it helps with the high notes.....🙂

Here is a fun fact...Every recording artist that was show cased in the movie 'Saturday Night Fever' won an Academy Award Oscar for being part of the musical score. Here in this clip the Bee Gees sung by lead singer Barry Gib who also wrote the song. Won an academy award along with the groups Tavares who performed it earlier in the film. The group Tavares would take this song into the top 40 long before it appeared in the film. 1977 would be a good year for John Travolta with the movies 'Grease' and 'Saturday Night Fever.' This was the year I met my lovely and beautiful wife and we've been married now for 45 years and counting.

I remember around '78 or '79, I was 4 or 5 years old, My cousin and her boyfriend use to rehersal on my aunt's living room all afternoon before going to the discoteque, she was 18 or 19 years old looked a little bit like Susan Day from the Patridge family, her boyfriend was around 21 ir 22, he was a latin version of Jhon Travolta (they still married). They practiced their dance moves for hours with the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack record, and I just seat there and watched them. They were fit and slender then (a few extra pounds extra now) and even had the outfits, she had.the Stephanie's pink dress and he had the Tony's white suit with the black shirt.

Remember What I Told you to Forget, More Than a Woman, Never Had a Love Like This Before..so many others! The lady is Karen Lynn Gorney. Before this film her claim to fame was playing the character Tara Martin on All My Children.

The Bee Gees worked in france at a new album when their producer Stigwood called them and wanted them making the soundtrack to his new film Saturday night fever. They told him they would have no time but he can have a few songs which they made for her new album. The brothers wrote the songs "practically in a single weekend" in the studio of Château d'Hérouville in France. The soundtrack is one of the best-selling albums in history and remains the second largest soundtrack of all time after The Bodyguard, having sold over 40 million copies worldwide.

The majority of the music was written and performed by them or they wrote for other artists like Yvonne Elliman and so on. Just for the record the Bee gees although they made the most popular disco album we're not a disco group up until that time and even afterwards we're not a disco group they were basically blue-eyed soul and had mega hits well before the Disco era that's when Robin did at least 50% or more of the singing but during the Disco era most of it was left for Barry. Another huge movie with John Travolta was Greece and the hit for that album was called Greece sang by Frankie Valli but written by the Bee gees you should check that one out too.

Enjoying the ride with you so far. Maybe this will help a bit. Here are 2 popular songs from each decade/music era. For the late 1960's - Massachusetts and I started a joke (both have Robin on lead vocals). For the early to mid 1970's - Jive Talkin' and Nights on Broadway For the late 1970's - Night Fever and Tragedy For the 1980's - One and Islands in the stream (sung by Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton). The Bee Gees wrote it for Kenny originally. For the 1990's - Alone and For whom the bell tolls. *Of course there are many others that should also be listed, but this will get you started... 😊

Considering their music career spans over decades, first formed in 1958 as a trio of kid singer/musicians until their last album "Still Waters" in 1997 - this is not just a mere "rabbit hole" but rather a deep cave to explore and get lost in. There is a vast library of music to journey through. I know most of it will initially be the more popular songs from their days as Kings of Disco. But I hope you will also (sometime soon) check out their later stuff. Two of my favorites were released decades after the height of the disco era - "One" (1989) and "Alone" (1997). Another must see/listen are two of Barry's famous duets with the legendary icon, Barbra Streisand - "Guilty" and "What kind of fool". Barry & his brothers have written other hit songs for her and many different artists over the years. If not for the untimely deaths of Maurice (2003) & Robin (2012), imagine all the amazing music they would have created since "Still Waters" Please give their little brother, Andy Gibb, a chance too. You will be amazed how much talent runs in that family. Andy was very popular in his day. His older brothers helped with some of his music & he hit the charts with - Shadow Dancing, I just want to be your everything, Don't throw it all away, Thicker than water, & An everlasting love. 😍
