    I truly wish that some of these farriers would feel like doing a little teaching as they work. I would so love to know what they are attempting to do and why. I can’t imagine trying to differentiate between living and dead tissue. However do they keep from accidentally hurting the horse. This man seems to work more carefully and slowly. Amazing and skillful craftsmen!

  • @melanisticmandalorian8909

    @melanisticmandalorian8909

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@FranCecy001 The frog gets cut off and thrown away, if you watch most farrier videos, dogs will come by and sneak it off as snacks. The frog is the consistency of soft leather. It's main job is to be pressed down when the horse stands on the hoof, and it assists in pumping the horse's blood back to the heart. The extra frog is cut off because it is over grown and having extra layers of unnecessary frog will give space for bacteria to grow and for the horse to catch thrush. I hope it kinda answers all sorts of questions.

Good closeups of making the shoe and putting it on. I have watched a few of these now and I still wonder: How do you make sure - after roughly clipping the toe edge - that you don't file the hoof at an angle (e.g. left side filed shorter than the right side of the hoof), which would lead to wrong joint position afterwards? Is it automatically even, when the horse rests its leg on the stand?
