As someone who is getting ready to start cosmetology school, your videos have made me feel like a “pro” already…I can’t thank you enough! You are AMAZING!
You're an amazing tutor! You explained very well what you're doing and how it is done with cross checking. Nice content Ma'am!

@@StylesBySummer, it’s interesting how you say bixies are all different, which is true. This is what I find so difficult about getting haircuts. I try to explain what I want to stylists and even bring pictures, but I find that the stylists really don’t want to talk that much to me about what I want, and I wind up with shapes that aren’t what I want at all. This is because there are so many different shapes that a haircut can be in. How do most people deal with this? I have fine curly hair so feel like this keeps happening to me because my hair is difficult. I’ve been to curl specialists too. I’ve finally started fixing the cuts myself, so I’m learning how to cut my own hair. I find that when I do the front the way the KZread videos say to do it like you do here, my hair curls forward, which I don’t like. When I cut the front hairs by holding them out to side at a 90 degree angle, my hair lays better.
You know how to cut hair. You are a natural expert!!!!
Summer is a rock star stylist. I learn so much from her videos. I love this cut but I would call it a very layered and texturized short Bob versus a Bixie. To me, a Bixie is much tighter at the nape with softness at the neck line.
@StylesBySummer
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment! I agree with the tighter nape, mannequin hair can only get so soft at the neck line 😂. I definitely left it more bobish. I feel like the Bixie varies person to person as far as what they feel it is.

Hey Summer, i’m a wig stylist and i benefited from your wonderful tutorials over the years, and i’ve really noticed your unique scissor technique, can you do a tutorial on how you hold your scissors?
Really like this haircut. I think this is what I'll go for next. I prefer this to a pixie cut as it's a bit more feminine. I love the long fringe and the texturing. I have fine hair, so this haircut will make my hair look fuller.

Thank Vicki! Possibly a pixie, have a do a practice run! Some mannequins hair won't lay right the shorter you go I've found.
I've been struggling with the right words to try to tell my stylist how I want my hair cut. (Sometimes I feel like I should go to cosmetology school just to learn to say the right words! 😅 ) This haircut is what I like... I seem to be able to get this length consistently... but it's totally the wrong shape. I'm going to try to use some of what you were saying here!

@@StylesBySummer This would great for people that cannot visit you! I so wish I could in person! ❤️
How would this work with very fine hair?
Ive been using my shears like that for years and years, like 40? lol. the pair i have the swivel actually swivels down to the screw, and i only put the tip of my thumb in. I have made comments that i dont understand why they dont make shears that actually fit the hand, so we dont have to contort our fingers etc to fit the shears. I mean its 2023, shears have been around for centuries! and they still think our thumb and ring finger are in the same position? yeah right. Its so much easier to cut this way. I let people try them and they always say they dont know how i can cut with them like that. When trained to use shears the old fashioned way, it does take time to learn with a modern pair and the thumb thrown all the way forward close to the screw. I only wish i could glue it so it didnt always try to go back to end next to the other ring. lol. I just tried to find my shears, the company doesnt list them any longer so i emailed them. The thumb ring looks like this 0- well its more round, lol. the dash part? is parallel to the handle, and at the end of the dash is where it connects to the handle, so you can move the ring and the dash over towards the point or towards the ring end. get it? lol
Wow❤
Very very nice👍🏻🥰👏🏻

How would this style look on natural wavy hair if you wanted to wear it natural?
Long square layers for sure
Summer, you are the stylist I need. If you are not too far, I am willing to travel. Can I get an appointment with you. I am in Florida.👏👏👏
What are the factors for a hairstylist like you to decide the style of the haircut to perform for a new walk-in female customer , such as her headshape, her clothes, or her voluntary choice from the pictures of the magazine ?

I personally like to go with the flow of what the client wants. I always ask for pictures, like to figure out what is their typical routine as far as time spent to do their hair. Depending on what they want I will suggest tweaks we can do to the cut to either suit them better or make it easier to style.

o people still ask for the Karen haircuts? I guess so! It would be fantastic if all hairdressers participate in putting together a combined secret database of names of clients getting the Karen haircut. You would make a killing selling selling this database to other businesses.
