Sarcasm actually comes from the Greek word sarkasmos, which roughly translates to “rend or tear flesh”, so it’s name basically is “flesh ripping Fringehead”

Whoever named that species is a genius. It's one of my favourite Attenborough scenes of all time, just because the fish and their name are so silly and well-matched.

The "Sarcastic" in its name comes from the non-standard use of sarcastic that refers back to the word's origin (Sarcasm is derived from the Greek word “sarkazo”, which means “to tear flesh”) So basically It's name is "Flesh tearing Fringehead"

All those times I’ve scuba dived in the kelp beds off the California coast and I never managed to see one of these guys!! BBC always manages to impress me.

Such a delightful and yet educational clip. With the amusing narration and whimsical background music/sound.
Whoever named this fish has my undying gratitude. I am sorely tempted to revise my hairstyle and also become a sarcastic fringe head.
Beautiful underwater photography! What astonishing diversity of life! Looking around at the life surrounding the "star" of the show, my mouth fell open in amazement and admiration, unconsiously mirroring the star's performance. And of course the star did a real star turn: it turned into a gila monster. Thank you.
Let me remind you though that David Attenborough is 95 years old as of now. Also props to BBCs sfx team. The sound and music is sharp as ever been/
