Elijah Mckenzie -- This looks like a set-up to me! The BBC *deliberately* placed the baby mantis on a leaf with the full-grown one, just so that he would be savagely, heartlessly eaten for the camera and the delight of the viewers. This is as contemptible a practice as cock fighting, and everyone at the BBC should have to spend some time in prison!

2:26 The spider legit looks up at the threat looming up ahead. Contemplating whether this mantis is worth the trouble or not. God, I love that. It's so subtle that when I first watched this I had no idea there might be something bigger to worry about.
@segagenesis7708

It's crazy how it doesn't dawn on your at the time that the spider follows this thing, almost blatantly. For it to suddenly have a change of heart seems odd over a Kung fu stance when the spider has superior eye-sight. Then, it hits you. 'Oh, it saw that big MFer behind the orange one'.
The spider wasn't scared of his bluff, but because he saw that big one coming. After all he got amazing eyesight, he's seeing the future.

The world of insects is just truly amazing and so varied.
This is one of my favorite pieces of film, storytelling, and art ever. I'm not even kidding. I watch it often and send it to people all the time. It captures the spirit of this amazing being wonderfully, both why I adore them and why they are so deliciously scary--but I repeat myself. If you are here because you're considering keeping one as a pet, do it. It's been incredibly rewarding in so many ways, and if you're an eighties kid who still wants a friend that's an alien-faery-centaur-interdimensional oddity, THIS. You have arrived at your destination.
That’s was the most depressing ending to a BBC clip I’ve seen
