    I am an expat Glaswegian and quite honestly this is how everybody there talks all the time. I mean the sarcasm and of course the accent. Still funny but made me homesick. As an aside, I naturally use sarcasm here in Canada and it does not always go down well. I would go crazy if not for my Brit friends who get were I am coming from. Literally.

    Alex Lynch That's hilarious, I love the name you gave it! I'm sure my family would force me to attend if such a thing existed. Can you imagine the meetings though? Everyone would be fighting for their chance to speak, no one would be listening to anyone else, they'd all be talking over each other, and the meetings would last for hours and hours!!

  • @KatarinaS.

    @KatarinaS.

    3 жыл бұрын

    Oh, wait, I just realized the group was actually for the families and not the over-talkers, sorry, my mistake. That would be a very different type of meeting, probably not as interesting, but at least they could vent and finally get a word in. The over-talkers are the ones that really need the help, though, to learn to talk less, let others have their turn, and not keep people hostage with their incessant talking. Not that I know anything about that though...

    @@sirdeadlock The point is that upon joining a new group, especially a support group for an intimate problem, most people want to be ignored until they are comfortable enough to speak up. I have never joined such a group but I have always wondered if it is like you see in the movies where the leader of the group immediately says "We have a new member, everyone say hello and let's try to make him talk!" I have severe anxiety so I've put off joining such groups because they make it look as though you would be shoved straight in the deep end with introductions and telling your story. If I was comfortable speaking in front of strangers I wouldn't have anxiety...
