Sarah’s story: death of a 7-year-old seeking asylum in the UK | BBC News
A 7-year-old girl, Sarah, was among five people who died in an overcrowded small boat in the English Channel, as they tried to reach the UK.
The BBC has spoken to Sarah’s father and pieced together what happened - and why the family was taking such a great risk to reach England.
Sarah was born in Belgium and grew up in Sweden. She was one of three children of Ahmed, who had fled Iraq in 2009 and spent years trying but failing to get permission to settle in Europe.
Instead the family faced deportation to Iraq, so Ahmed decided that the family would meet people smuggler’s on a beach at night in France and make the sea crossing to England. It was a desperate move that ended in tragedy.
Sophie Raworth presents BBC News at Ten reporting by Andrew Harding.

Maybe at least be polite. And be aware that these kids are made racist religious militants by their parents. The kids themselves, on their own, are not evil.
So 3xplain why the little girl was in the boat with him and not his wife the 2 other daughters/ What was he trying to do here? If the girl born in Sweden isn't she a swedish citizen? Why would the children be deported?

Guess we don't care about the kids that die over here anymore
unfortunately, I've met some of those who seek refuge in Both South Korea and Canada. They have something in common: all of them come from wealthy families, that's why they manage to get to the West and other poor fellows have to stay in their home countries. One of them is my classmate, who studies in a developed country without having to work while we - the legitimate students - are struggling financially and are willing to do any legal work, but she is rich and she'll never be willing to do such jobs. She has started her refugee claim process not yet been approved. All she mentioned was benefits be granted as a refugee and with people from Syria, the success is almost guaranteed. Another fellow told me this was how the process works and, even if something does not happen to you but it happens to people in your country you can claim that it happened to you. People, work to earn a living, People in the West are all nice and decent and they have done a lot for many legitimate asylum seekers, don't abuse the system.

Father killed his daughter
Stay away from trying to enter the UK illegally, you may well die trying. Ahmed killed his daughter, it is nobody else's fault. Try calling Iraq home. It is truly sad that the little girl has died by the hands of her father. NO MEANS NO. Sneaking in illegally is not the answer.

@MODDINGPRIME Why on earth would I do that, I'm from England. This guy killed his daughter even though he was living safely in numerous countries in Europe. He should of returned to his home country and tried to contribute to making it a better place. Wake up, ffs. Muslims want to come to Europe for one thing only, to eventually dominate, it's their goal, its the message in their book of terror. And they want to come to Great Britain because its the best for freeloading. I, for one, am sick of working very hard for very little whilst others breeze into this country and reap the benefits my tax pound pays for... I can't even get a doctors appointment for over two weeks !

For his children to be born and raised in Europe and then deported to Iraq a war thorn country for indefinite is another form of murder. The same way any British family would not take their kids to Iraq or Afghanistan for ever. He himself might be able to live in Iraq but his kids would mentally suffer. look up the definition of Illegal immigrant. someone who lives or works in another country when they do not have the legal right to do this
They were settled in Sweden ,what more did he want, there was no excuse for putting the little girl on that boat..
So it seems he would do anything for his family not to go back to Iraq. Was it so unsafe for them there? Does he regret his decision? We dont know. We don't know all the facts. As much as i dont want the sheer number of migrants coming here to the UK, i cannot judge this man because i don't walk in his shoes.

So the girl was born in Belgium when her family lived there. Then they live Sweden and yet paid and tried to cross the channel.its not uk problems that people die crossing the channel.they were in Europe and Europe bosses are the EU.blame them.
The father is a murderer of her own daughter . He is the main culprits to put her daughter to die . No mercy on her father . They are greedy !!!
So he fled Iraq in 2009 & was denied permission to settle in Europe, I wonder why that was.
The little girl would still be alive if her dad didn't break the law
maybe should have stayed in France, the food isn't that bad. certainly not worth dying over anyway.
The worst thing for any parent is to outlive your children I hope and pray that they kind move on from this in some way but part of the blame is on them for taking risk, and also on those who knowingly trampled a child and looked away. I hope they are able to find a home somewhere within Europe to try a deport children who are born within a country, grew up in that country and are raised in that country but then say they are not native does not make sense

Mr Alhashimi said he had been living in Sweden for seven years, and had been trying to gain EU residency - but was turned down because he was from the Iraqi city of Basra, which is considered safe.
Iraq is safe now. For the most part, with the expection of some areas of the country. Still a broken country though, i wont lie about it. The American , British, saudi/isis atrocities has really taken a toll on this society. The only countries that have been somewhat good to iraq is iran, Russia because they helped with isis problem. Maybe even china to some extent.

This happened and is happening because of the illegal invasion of Iraq. Where they had a leader in Saddam Hussein who was no saint but kept the country in order and it's people never felt the need to take life threatening journeys for a better life. We all know which country wanted Saddam to be removed to weaken the Arab nation's and that country is currently committing a Genocide, where not one Arab leader has uttered a single word of disapproval. Also the Iraq oil wealth is being syphoned off on an industrial scale by the oligarchs that have taken over since the disposal of Saddam. Where is that money being parked?
