This song was a HUGE success in Italy, Europe, Russia and Latin America (Spanish speakers can understand most of the words, although there was also a Spanish version for that market). Ricchi e Poveri is one of the band most known and appreciated in Italy. Ever. In 1981 when this song came out I was a teenager. Great song!!!

Tommy Johansson, the guitarist of the Sabaton has just released a metal version of this song. His Italian pronunciation is surprisingly good too (he can also speak Italian).

They had an live version in 2020 that is less bubblegum, look up Sanremo 2020 - I Ricchi e Poveri: "Se m'innamoro - Sarà perché ti amo This band (not this song) was the Italy entry for the 1978 Eurovision Song Contest They've been around for over 50 years

Die Band wurde als Quartett, Franco Galli, Angela Brambali, Angelo Sotgiu, Marina Occhiena im Jahr 1967 gegründet. 1980 stieg nach Streitigkeiten Marina Occhiena aus. Das Lied Sara perche ti amo ist von 1981. Im Jahr 2020 kam es zur Wiedervereinigung als Quartett. Franco Galli starb im Oktober 2022 nach schwerer Krankheit. 2023 stieg das Lied Sara perche ti amo wieder in die italienischen Charts ein.

If I remember right, this was a hit for Laura Brannigan back in the early 80:s. At least I think it was her… Maby 80-81 or something, but I might be all wrong 🙃.

She covered many italian songs. Probably her most sucessfull cover was GLORIA (original by Umberto Tozzi). Clearly, sarà perché ti amo and Gloria, in italian are better
