Santillo's Brick Oven Pizza has been in business since 1918 in Elizabeth, NJ. The Pizza been voted the best pizza in New Jersey and for some in the World. The reason behind this status is Al Santillo, owner and the only pizza maker of the famed pizzeria. And some have considered it the best pizza in New Jersey.
He bakes 4 times a week a to around his life schedule. If he needs to go to a family event, he will not be open that day! He built his business around his life.
What makes a Santillo's a Santillo Pizza is his oven, seasoned over the may years with olive oil, cheese, dough and other toppings cooked in a 600 degree oven. It's Al's experience and knowledge of his oven that makes the pizza the pizza you want to devour.

It was like a pilgrimage to drive to New Jersey to get a pie. I ordered the Santillos 1964, his standard pie. Sauce, Parmesan, and Olive Oil. If I got there earlier, I would have ordered the Santillos 2020, but I was traveling and could not bring home any extras.
I wish I had the opportunity to see the oven and Al in action, but all I got to see was the mixer and the long wooden handles of the pizza peels. In fact, they slide your pizza through the storm door.
I was led to believe he was one man shop, but I saw some helpers, probably to assist during the weekends, but no extra help making the pies!
Definitely take a trip to Santillo's Brick Oven Pizza as part of your Pizza Journey.

In this youtube video, you will watch Noah visit the famous Sanitillo's in Elizabeth, NJ on his way to Pennsylvania. Everyone keeps telling him to visit Al. Today was his day to make a slight detour this voted best pizza in New Jersey. He first called in the order then picked up the pizza pie through an opening of the door. The pizza crunch was incredible and charred just right.

It’s good to visit. Typically Elizabeth NJ is viewed as an industrial or highway wasteland that you pass through. There’s definitely nice gems in New Jersey.
1:39 That spelling error for "parmesan" on their website has been there for years. LOL. Doesn't matter when the pizzas good.

Great review Noah! I am so impressed by your video quality given the lack of lighting. I admire your use of special effects! Thanks for the shout out! I want to tell you something...I had to pull teeth to get that custom pie....Al Santillo initially told me no also...but he was having a great day that day and finally agreed :) lol. I found it strange to see that clump of tomato on that 2nd pie...

Thanks Antonio! I had to adjust the filtering to reduce the redness as it got darker. Im going to have to twist Al's arm to do a combo, but I wlll go on a less busy week day. for the other pies.

@@NoahEats delucias in raritan is amazing, no more crazy line just call ahead for pickup or dine in. And the Linwood in Linden is really good as well. Both charge around 15-18 for a pie

San Marzano tomato sauce Al uses comes from Cali, not Jersey.
