Yeah, that's why I typed the big P in people. People with honor and conscience (svedomie) not allowing to harm others nor to parasiting on others. What today anglosaxon "culture" in real is. Genocide, wars, violence. After famous DNA expert Kljosov the haplogroup R1b (Westeuropeans) has killed original R1a population (Easteuropeans) all over West Europe before they did spread across continent. Later on all over the world colonising and exploiting it. And yes, Latin language and English as well all of the West European languages are artificialy invented in modern times, the first one a bit earlier.

Back in 2000 Serbian linguist Branislava Božinović published her capital three-volume vocabulary of related Serbian and Sanskrit words - detailed work on 1049 pages in total. Despite the fact that there are some other notable professional works who explore and analyse common roots of Slavic and Sanskrit people back to the Vedic age, such a vocabulary may be considered as a shiny jewl among this type of literature. There's an interview with Branislava Božinović currently available on KZread as well, but it doesn't have any integrated translations. It's good to know that we share the common roots! Perhaps we may establish some close cultural and linguistic associations of our people in the future.

I am an American, and native English speaker. I have been interested more and more in learning Sanskrit, since I feel an enormous "pull" toward Hinduism, India and Sanskrit. (I have been practicing Buddhism for 19 years.) I also crochet and was just a few minutes ago learning a pattern from a Russian video. She was counting the stitches, and it just sounded to me like Sanskit. I immediately Googled "Sanskrit Russian" and found this video. It is fascinating. I also seem similarities with English, like "dom" meaning "domecile" and "domestic" in English (having to do with "home"), and "ontra" ("inside') also being similar to "enter" in English. I am more motivated than ever now to learn Sanskrit. But for now, I must learn this crochet pattern first! :-)

But what is even more interesting or even suspicious than all those similarities is the fact that all those connections are in my opinion not very broadly known even between the "specialists" like historians, esoteric ppl etc. It's like some big and important part of knowledge about us is being hidden from us.

Thank you very much for your video, my indian brother! I can talk very long about tousands of country folk traditions that are the same today in Russia and today in India, that both came from ancient behavior in varnas. But I will just talk about few things. Sorry if it is still to much for you and for my english. I dont really care about my english, but nevertheless )) Northrussian dialect is more similar. And also other dialects, like in Volgorod region are so similar that Sanskrit linguists who came to this region and spoke to people who speak volgorodian russian dialect, they didnt even needed a interpreter to understand each other. Its like indian Prof. Durga Prasad Shastri said: "If I were asked what two languages of the world resembled each other most, I would reply without hesitation: 'Russian and Sanskrit.'" There is also ancient russian language called "hAriyskaya Karuna", and some linguists think that "Sanskrit" is a simplified "hAriyskaya Karuna" In the year (about) 1700, masonic Tsar Peter the Great (the Traitor in my opinion) banned our ancient calender. Before Tsar Peter banned it, russians had totaly different calender called Коляды Даръ (Coljadi Dar). Today its not the 2017. Today, on our Коляды Даръ calender it is sommer of 7525 from P.M.S.T. (Peacetreaty Made in Stellar Temple) As christianity came, christians began to destroy everything peace by peace, today this destruction is still going on. Some of russians today, still live on this ancient calender and resuscitate old knowledge. First, this old knowledge was banned by christian power, then by communist power and now by capitalist power. Look at river names in nothern Russia, many rivers on the map still has its ancient sanscrit names! (If you dont find them I can made you a list, just tell me) Our ancient gods are the same only a bit different in pronunciation: Krishenj (Крышень) - Krishna, Dshiva (Джива) - Shiva, Vishen (Вышень) - Vishnu, Ramhat (Рамхат)- Rama, Surja (Сурья) - Surja, Shita (Жита) - Sita, Svarog (Сварог) - Svajambhu (other name of Brahma), Our ancient stories tells us about prince Ivan who fight against serpent with many heads (змей горыныч - zmei gorinich) on the Kalinov bridge. And Krishna fight against serpent with many heads on the river Kalindi! I can go on and on... There is so much more...

what Indo-European term means? Do you all linguists ever ask yourself, is this has any meaning and sense? it's like you say "Prago-Londonian" it covers Slavic and Anglo-Saxon words. So it means nothing... Btw...If you are linguist you heard about proto Slav... It has the same roots as all Slavic languages... but also it's very very similar to Sanskrit... but Latin and Greek(also indo-European) have absolutely no similarities with it... so face it... Slavs are the oldest in Europe... and have had connections with India for the last 7000 thousand years at least...

@@user-fl2ok7ms6uSerb is definitely not the oldest name for slavs, because " SLOVENY" is the oldest name for slavs. Serbs were just one of the many Slavic tribes. And yes u are correct, the Horvatoi and the Serpoi are mostly Slavinised Sarmatians, of course mixed with slavs as well. Slavic peoples were named after the regions they lived in, for example in Ukraine, Drevlyani lived in the forests, Poljani lived in the fields, and Severjani lived to the North. Serb and Horvat are not names of Slavic origin, they are for sure Sarmation names. Ive heard that theory before and I must say that its complete baloney, Serbia has a rich history and we share much in common with Serbia, but Serbin is not a generic name for all slavs, and Serbs are not the oldest Slavic nation out there...We all formed in around the same time tbh out of a confederation of different tribes. There were other Slavic tribes that moved to modern Serbia during the 6-7th century, they simply took on the Serbian ethnonym, just as Ukraine was made up of 9-10 different tribes who took the name Rus. The only reason the word slave is in the English language is because the Germanics took Slovjany prisoners as slaves and sold them all over western Europe at great number. This was indeed 3-6th centuries A.D..As u can see the many Slavic tribes were called SLoveny and not Serby. If that was the case the word for slave in English today would be Sarb. There is no evidence whats so ever that all slavs are Serbs and that Serbs is an old generic name for all slavs..

Thank you Mr Kumar for this wonderful video. To me, as an native Croatian speaker, your video was nothing but an eye opener. I knew that both Sanskrit and Slavic languages belong to larger Indo-European family of languages but to see such similarities still in strength, and in everyday use is simply astonishing. Once again, thank You for Your video. As a food for thought, here is a couple of additional similarities that I’ve noticed from your video. For instance “gaca” (or “gacati” as an active form) in Croatian still means “to go” but in a very particular sense, to go over a marshland, mud, sleet, or in general; to go, to stride over places where water is shallow. I presume, in English it is phonetically written like this: gaatza and gaatzatii receptively. Thus gacam, gacamo and so on, (there is noticeable similarity with gachha etc., I hope You will agree) can still be translated as I go, we go, respectively, but only in those places that I indicated previously. Pacati - is still in use for preparing food, but today mostly for preparing fish or meat for a barbecue. Something like preparing a sauce for it , though as far as I know, it is used mostly in Dalmatia today. Prijatan - is yet another word which shifted its original meaning slightly, today it means a person who is nice, or even a pleasure to be in a company of, not a friend in particular. However, if we see a Croatian/Serbian word for a friend “prijatelj”, we can easily notice that difference is only in the last syllable. Tvar still means “a thing”, but in far more general way: a physical substance in general. Matter is a literal translation to English. But I better stop now, my comment is getting far to long. I would ask, if that is not a too presumptuous of me, if You know of any good online resources for learning Sanskrit? While I was learning Latin in high-school, I was very interested in learning Sanskrit, but lack of appropriate resources was insurmountable obstacle (OK, I’ll admit, I wasn’t trying that hard in the first place ;) ).

It's great to see how languages change and influence each other. It's a shame so few people learn Sanskrit. In Wales, the government introduced Welsh language into the schools and all documents are available in Welsh as well as English; the language was almost dead but it now has 800,000 proficient speakers. There's hope for Sanskrit, I think : )

I am Serbian and I started learning Sanskrit, and found out that morphology and syntax are really similar, but morphology is the best evidence of common language and probability that Slavic people used to live in northern India as many toponyms also have even more meaning in Serbian eg, than any language spoken intl that region of India today. In Serbian rural areas where people speak more archaic dialects, there are similarities even closer in grammar with Sanskrit, which we think in modern times are grammatically irregular forms. sutanpuu I’m not sure about that. Latvian and Lithuanian are very different from the other Slavic languages. I believe these two languages split off much earlier than that. On that note though, more languages that are part of the same sub-branch (English, German, Dutch are western Germanic) can feel like they have less similarities than with another sub branch. I find German to be extremely different than English, but Norwegian, Swedish, and Danish (written Danish only) to be far easier to understand and even easier to read, despite being from a northern Germanic sub branch. This is probably due to the Viking conquests during the first millennium.

As first thank you so much for this gerat video! I've been reading the comments below and I am really surprised that the Slavic people are informed about similarities between Sanskrit and Slavic, because I thought thaht only the Serbs are gargling about that fact and everybody thinks that we are crazy but Germans didn't get to set all our libraries on the fire in last century (even known theat they wanted it)! it will be very very difficult for slavic people to understan who they are!!! Western civilization is very young and temporary very powerful, they will give everything to create a new past only to represent themself for the most important wheel in the history! In last centuries, slavs suffered under lot of jewish-jesuit games like christianity and the definitively worst thing that could happend to us was the communism. Best regards from Serbia.

This is great to see. There was a Serbian professor of mechanical engineering and linguistics (I think she passed away a decade ago, but I might be wrong) named Branislava Bozinovic that studied Sanskrit in India and wrote a book on the similarities between the two languages. I remember reading about it and listened to a few of her interviews and I was really impressed. I'm not sure if there are English translations of her work or interviews though.

Also I wouldn't say that Finno-Ugrics are a mix of Mongol and Indo Europeans, since they were there before the Indo Europeans and the chances of them mixing would have to be pretty late, almost modern. However there could be a possibility of them being related to Mongols in some way.

he terms A.M. and P.M. have a Sanskrit connotation and not English as is easily assumed. In English parlance the term A.M. means ‘ante-meridian’ and P.M. means ‘post-meridian’. But the question remains who is ante-meridian and post-meridian? That is to say the subject himself is missing. The ‘Sun’ who is vital to the calculation remains un-mentioned. This is unthinkable and unjustifiable. That lacuna arises because it is not realized that the letters A.M. and P.M. are the initials of the hoary Sanskrit expressions (आरोहणम् मार्तडस्य्) Arohanam Martandasaya (i.e. the climbing of the sun) and (पतनम् मार्तडस्य्)Patanam Martandasaya (i.e. the falling of the sun).

I work in the states currently so I don't have a chance to keep up my Ukrainian but just remembering from my childhood I felt this eerie sense when reading/working my way through the Vedic texts with so many similar words in Ukrainian!!! I loved the swimming 'plavate' plavannya' similarities as the Veda's use these words in terms of consciousness 'swimming across the sea of samsara in the boat of wisdom' (Brahman) but it was eerie seeing the Ukrainian word plavannya/plavate used this way and grammatical constructions that felt so similar!

+Państwo Piesto No slavic words come from sankskrit. Some words may sound similar because both protoslavic and sankskrit developed from the same ancenstor language (as well as Protolatin, Protogreek, Protobaltic, Protogermanic, Protoarmenian). Btw. suknia is called so because in old times it was made out of sukno. In Old Polish "sukać" used to mean skręcać razem kilka nitek. Other slavonic languages have the same words, sukati, sukno, suknja.

  • 8 жыл бұрын

That's interesting. Thanks. How do you know that it wasn't sanskrit from which protoslavic developed?

  • @G6600

    @G6600

    8 жыл бұрын

Państwo Piesto Slavic languages did not develope from Sankskrit. Word sankskrit means only "the written language" but the language itself was called Aryan language and from it evolved today's North-Indian languages such as Punjabi, Hindu, Nepali, Bengali and even the language of Gypsies. The sister languages to these are Iranian languages such as Pashto, Persian, Kurdish, Ossetian (Alan). Even words Aryan and Iran and Alan are only variants of the same word. The main difference is that Iranians pronounce H where Aryans pronounce S. Compare Iranian hura, harahvati, hind to Aryan surya, sarasvati, sindh. This means that Sankskrit (Aryan) and Iranian languages had in the past a common mother language. All Slavic languages had in the past one mother language, that they all evolved from. It is called Old Slavic. Befor Old Slavic was Protoslavic (which means First-Slavic). That Protoslavic had a sister language, which was Protobaltic, i.e mother language of Lithauanians and Latvians. While Baltic languages stayed very archaic, the Old Slavic changed a lot (mainly lost consonant S on the end of the word). Let's compare some Lithuanian, Protoslavic and Oldslavic words. ltv. ranka - psl. ranka - osl. ronka (arm) ltv. pirštas - psl. pirstus - osl. perst (finger) ltv.galva - psl. galva - osl. glava, golova (head) ltv. šienas - psl. senas - osl. seno (hay) ltv. karve - psl. karva - osl. krava, korova (cow) ltv. luopeta - psl. lapata -osl. lopata (shovel)... This means that Baltic languages and Slavic languages had in the past the same mother language from which they developed. That mother language of Slavs and Balts, and the mother language of Aryan and Iranian had in the past a common language. The difference is that mother language of Aryan and Iranian changed L to R. Compare Aryan suRya to Baltic sauLe and slavic SuLnce (sun), Aryan vRkas to Baltic viLkas and slavic vuLk (wolf). And please remember that word Aryan resembles only forefathers of Iranians and North-Indians and has nothing to do with racist proclamation, which some ignorant people may use. It was Hitler's propaganda to call Nordic race as Aryans and use swastika, but the name Aryan and swastika originate in the Middle Asia and should be used as such. How do I know all that? I am a linguist from Germany. If you have more questions, you can add me on google and I can try to explain you in greater depth. Serdecznie pozdrawiam

A well done video. It is amazing how similar Serbo-Croatian and Sanskrit are in grammar and in the number of words of the same root. These words are from all different categories (numbers, family members, everyday life activities etc.). It suggests a common ancestor language, certainly long before 500 BC, since Panini recorded Sanskrit grammar at about that time. A couple of curious examples: gacchati in Sanskrit means "he goes". In Croatian there is a word of the same root "gegati" meaning "to walk like a duck or a goose"; Sanskrit "utajah", I believe means "a hut", but Croatian utočište is a "place of refuge".

I liked the way that you looked at not only the base vocabulary, but the grammatical endings which tell us a lot about the relationship between the languages.

Old church "slavonic" was created by non native speakers (greek brothers) who had very shallow knowledge of Slavic language. I would not use that as a base for any comparison.

This part is a COPY from the book SERBIA IN THE SCRIPTURES... "in the cursed land of India.
Fight was fought for very long,
a hundred thousands of long years..."
In Serbian oral tradition many wars with the Hindus, Chinese ('Manchurians') and Mongolians (Tatars) are well preserved. One poem tells a story about them: Near the dreadful river Chuy,
with the weary horses,
bloody battles do they fight, longlasting battles with the Tatars, the angry Tatars, and Manchurians, our greatest fiends (...) River Chuy is situated in Central Asia, close to North India
(15 Аљоша Бранков Арсеновић, Обредне пјесме древних Срба из Индије, Мирослав, Београд, 2008.) Therefore, that part of ancestors of Serbs escaped India and came to East Europe from Asia around 1400 BC, and from there to Balkan, having joined their compatriots. (More about them in chapter 'Who were the Wends?'). 4) Beside almost complete matching between many Serbian and Sanskrit words, beside Serbian toponyms in India and Serbian oral tradition, the connection between Serbs and ancient Indians/Hindu is further proven by the great similarity between their religions, which are not similar only as in case of all other polytheistic religions, but much more. Even the names of 'gods' and 'goddesses' both in Serbian and vedic Hindu pantheon are identical. We will see the importance of this connection between this part of Serbian ancestors and Indians in later passages. As all ancient nations did it, so did the ancient Indians remember their progenitors and ancestors, including Noah and his three sons: Shem, Ham and Japheth. Hindu story about the Great Flood is widely known. It tells us that the only man who survived the Flood was called Manu (Ma- Nu, ma stands for water). Manu also had three sons, who were called: S'harm, K'harm and Japati. Japati or Prajapati is the same as Japheth; obviously, K'harm is biblical Ham, (16 Мавро Орбини, Краљевство Словена, Српска књижевна задруга, Београд, 1968, 6. стр (Serbs from India were definitely of partly different ethnic origin than those Serbs who lived in Balkan, but they were both of mainly Indo‐European origins.) It's where the confusion about the identity of Sarmatians and Scythians among modern historians comes from. However, there was also one specific nation in the area which wore the original name of Sarmatians, and which was closely linked to Scythians, as Herodotus informed us. An interesting fact here is that almost all of those rare researchers of the Serbs' origin, together with the famous slavists, agree that Serbs and Sarmatians are one and the same. The Sarmatians are related to Scythians, as said by Herodotus. A great number of Iranic tribes, which lived near the Black Sea, were called Scythians by Old Greeks. Iranic is the same as Persian, and Persians descended from Elam, son of Shem, and Madai, son of Japheth. Knowing Sarmatians are the same as Serbs, and that Sarmatians descended from Elamite Scythians, it'not hard to conclude that Sarmatians were a mix of Serbs (who are descendants of Tiras, son of Japheth) and Scythians (who were descendants of Elam, son Shem, as well as Madai). The connection between Madai and Serbs is confirmed by Arab sources, while the following information gives us more detail about Elam and Serbs. Famous Roman writer Pliny ennumerated the names of Scytho-Sarmatian tribes: Antes, Roxolani, Iazyges, Alans, Aorsi and Siraces. Byzantine chronicles equated the Antes with Serbs (Slavs). Jordanes wrote that Antes, Wends and Slavs are the same people. Then, Euro-Asian tribe Aorsi was called Yentsai and Antsai by Chinese, which is very similar to Antes (Serbs). And if Aorsi are Antes (Serbs), then it is no wonder there is a river in Dalmatia called Aorsa, which would be renamed to Raša in later times. Also, an Elamite tribe was called Anzan, as well as their capital city. There is a large number of toponyms in Elam, Persia and Mesopotamia which resemble the name Serbs (Serb. Srbi). Even one Alanic tribe was called Spales. Spares, while we know of Spores as a synonym for Serbs. It cannot be a coincidence that Elamites were called by the name Elymaei by Greeks, which was at the same time the name of one Illyrian tribe. Likewise, another Illyrian tribe was called Parti, while we know of Parti as an old name for Persians - descendants of Elam. And in order to add more impressiveness, we will now say that Elamites were known as Halams, too, while it is widely known that the most ancient name for Balkan was Helm or Haemus! A Greek myth tells us that Hae(l)mus is the eponym of the Haemus (Balkan) mountains, and the mythical Thracian king. Finally, we could say that one non-established state of Serbs from 19th century was called Holmia or Helmia, deriving its name from a Serbian word helm, which means hill, mountain. Before we move on, it is interesting to note that the unacomplished ruler of Holmia - Nikola Vasojević - wrote a book called History of Holmia, which should have been used in propaganda for justification of his new independent state, emphasizing that his Holmia would be 'legal heir of the pre-Nemanjić state of Serbia, which lasted from 495 to 1160 AD'.

Срби никад, али никад нису били политеисти. Поновићу још једном, никада. Веровали су у једног јединог творца за којег су са правом говорили да му не знају ни име ни лик али су знали да је он један створитељ свега. Срби су Православци од вајкада. Sanskrit belongs to the Indo-European family of languages. It is one of three ancient documented languages that arose from a common root language now referred to as Proto-Indo-European, no surprise Slavic languages share many similarities, same as Latin, English etc. For example number 7 : Latin - septem, English - seven, Polish - siedem, Sanskrit - septa . English - nose, Sanskrit - nas, Polish - nos , Latin - nasus. Slavic languages retained more similarities with Sanskrit due to geographic location and time of migration. Proto-Indo-European is divided to centum and satem languages. Indo-Iranian (Sanskrit) and Balto-Slavic belongs to satem group thus similarities you observed :)

I came upon this video while trying to translate to my language (czech) the english word "mindfulness" which is used in english texts about buddhism, yoga and meditation. and to my surprise i found on wikipedia that it comes from the sanskrit word smrti. which is spelled like the czech word for death, smrt. i couldn't find anything about the origin of the word but it would be really interesting to know if they have anything in common. if the sanskrit word translates to "remembrance, reminiscence" which wouldn't be so far away from what "death" actually means in our lives - the constant reminder that everything is temporary, which would be like one of the big essences of Buddhist teachings, if i get that correctly, embodied in a single word.

+GG HH Exactly, just like majority of Indians (45-65%) sharing paternal R1a1 haplogroup, most of them in Brahmin caste of priests(70-80 up to 90 %) but also in other casts, and Slavs also share that haplogroup (in Ukraine, Russia and Poland up to 65-80%, in Polabian Serbs or Sorbs is 90%) but Slavs are paler and Indians darker due to maternal admixture with northern scandinavian, siberian peoples and dravidian. Thats why their languages are Indo_European . In Pakistan is the same situation for example in Nortern parts there is 80-90 % concentration of R1a1 paternal haplogroup. Some theoreticians say that The Vedas sanskrit originated from those R1a1 haplogroup carriers. upload.wikimedia.org/.../9/94/R1a1a_distribution.png

Excellent video! I can confirm all of the things you discussed and words you list also apply to Bulgarian, which is a South Slavic language similar to Serbian/Croatian.

Number 9 (Devet) contains the term "Dev" or "Deva", which means "Divine" or "Godly" (Deus) in Slavic... 9th world was Perun's land, which was identical to norse Ygdrasil or Baltic 9th land of gods...That's why it was said in that way from the beginning, because this number was very sacred; one of many calendars contained 9 days per week instead of 7.; so these 9 days were IDENTICAL to Vedic Nakshatra system; 9x3 Sidereal months... 9 was replaced with 7, which represented Underground or realm of Snakes in slavic mythology; which is realm of Patala or Nagaloka in Vedas... Hell. So 9-days weeks were replaced with Babylonian/Ugaritic/Akkadian, aka "Jewish" weeks with 7 days... One of the antagonists of the Slovene mythology stood against Perun's Avatar, called Kresnik(which is related with Vedic Indra) was called Babylonian queen... she was a queen of snakes.

nope, 9 devet (proto-Slavic deventi) is by analogy with 10 (desenti), without the analogy, it should've been neventi, therefore nevet in Slovenian. nev-/nov- is the root for 9 in all indo-european languages, and it's related to nev/nov- (meaning new). So smart people have presumed that early Indoeuropeans counted until 8, then the next number was called "new". Similar to Slovenian drugi (meaning "other" for 2nd, instead of Slavic vutor, which is preserved in the name of Tuesday: vtornik, utorak, torek etc.)

Branimir you are full of shit. you do not even know BASIC Slavic and Baltic mythology. DEVET contains the meaning for GOD or "DEV"; DEVIŠKI; "Holy", DEVETA DEŽELA or "9th land" = YGGDRASIL = NAKSHATRA IN VEDAS! Put your "indo european" nonsense out of your head, because there was no "proto indo european" language, IT IS AN ARTIFICIALLY CREATED NONSENSE, WHICH HAS NO BASIC (WRITTEN) PROOF! Sanskrit is the OLDEST "IE" language, not "PIE". " therefore nevet in Slovenian. nev-/nov- is the root for 9 in all indo-european languages " There IS NO "NEVET" in Slovenian and NEVER WAS. NEV shares linguistic root with Sanskrit's PRA NAVA or PRANAV (OMKARA; "OMMM" sound) or the ASTRAL realm, which was in Slavic known as NAV or NAVJE (also christian cemetery), which is in the 7th realm. From 9 (9th land of gods) slavic week they switched to the Babylonian 7 week (Nav), realm of Peklo or HELL with the arrival of Judeochristianity (cult of Osiris / Asuras); Asuras were enemies of DEVas... their realm was located also in the Bila Svarga or NAKSHATRA or PATALA, around Pranav or Nav... From Nav also derives "NAUTIC", NAVIGATION; etc...

The Sanscrit [sic] language, whatever be its antiquity, is of a wonderful structure; more perfect than the Greek, more copious than the Latin, and more exquisitely refined than either, yet bearing to both of them a stronger affinity, both in the roots of verbs and the forms of grammar, than could possibly have been produced by accident; so strong indeed, that no philologer could examine them all three, without believing them to have sprung from some common source, which, perhaps, no longer exists.[note 1] - Sir William Jones,
