I can't see myself getting rid of the absolute editions of this series. I absolutely (pun intended) love the oversized format and everything about it. I will say the black paper is a nice touch however, the size and space of the absolutes is insane but its one of my favorite absolutes and I just can't part with them.

I got these over the last few months from amazon. I timed it right that I got one for $50, and the other two for about $100 each. if you buy them at the wrong time they can be really really pricey. Great review. I just checked the spines on mine all match.

Yeah very helpful as I was about to get the absolute editions but now seeing the omnibus I'm probably going to buy them as they aren't as tall. Those absolute editions are hell on my shelves but look great. Thanks Gem

This is a gorgeous collection! Even if not an Omnibus I would keep the best collections of the classics and/or favorites. That's just me though.

Got the first 2 absolutes and then the 2nd Omni to have whole main series I think, and I definitely prefer the absolutes. Can’t go wrong either way tho, truly an iconic story for the genre

The absolute editions also seem to be having binding issues. I ordered the first 2 Vol & Vol 1 came with bad binding from OPB. Those guys took care of me though 🤘🏻 they’re the fuckin best I’ll never buy a book anywhere else lol also gem keep up the stellar content I can’t wait to dive into sandman.

Love The Sandman. Been reading it since I was a teenager long ago. It helped build who I am today. It introduced me to all the things I love today and even how I dress.

Omnibus + Sandman + Gem Mint!! Trifecta!! I didn’t realize (I’m sure I’ve read and remember all the trade paperbacks) that there was prose in Sandman! Wow!

My spines are mismatched too. It's your decision I'll never get rid of my absolutes. I have the omni's too.

Have all three, love the collection. Had no binding issues with mine. Not to say that some did.?

It's funny just got vol.1+ 2 dirt cheap a couple of days ago ! I was going to get vol.3 at full price,,but I can live without it after watching this, thanx gem !! 👍keep up the good work !!

I got Sandman in deluxe editions but after seeing this video I might have to double up and get the omnis as well, amazing editions.

Happy to say i got vols 1&2 with both of them having matching DC vertigo spines

I love my Sandman omnis, they're easily my favorite volumes on my shelf. One of the best ongoing comic runs of all time, easily. I do also have similar binding issues on Vol. 3, so I do think it was a prevalent problem for that printing.

Eh, as awesome the customer service is from OPB, I have to say that recently I prefer IST or CGN. Simply due to the price differences in some of their omnis and often times for me, orders from IST arrives quicker.

I have the extended Slipcase set,the 1st 5 Absolutes and these,and the Absolutes are the best, hands down,imho. If I want to re-read them I use the Slipcase set.

Mine have DC/Vertigo logo on 1st and 3rd and Vertigo logo on 2nd... Neither of mine has DC logo...

Here's to hoping that DC will finally release Moore's Swamp Thing in an all in one Omni format.

Hey a new (and I mean very new to this series 😂) fan here I was wondering if someone could break down which order I should read the Omnibus’s. There’s Sandman, Books of Magic and Lucifer. I also picked up the mystery compendium I think it was called (hopefully not made a mistake there as if it’s included in one of the omnibus’s I’ll be rather sad 😬😂) So if anyone could just give me a reading road map as it were I’d be super appreciative. I like to read things from the earliest part in a timeline to the recent preferably. I’m yet to begin reading so no spoilers please as well 🙂

I just bought the sandman omnibus and I spent 2 hours stretching / relaxing the spine 3 times, page by page with a fair bit of pressure too and there's no eye at all, completely flat, book hardly opens at all. First time I stretched the spine was gentle and each next time I used a little more pressure. I'm guessing this isn't normal? First time getting a DC graphic novel. Would this be an acceptable reason to return it?

Could always try to slide a ruler or something down the spine and carefully lift it. I have had spines with a little extra glue that kept it from stretching and once I broke the glue it opened up much easier.

Damn those spines not matching.. could never get them now :(

Deluxe editions are good value.

Hot Take: Sandman is the most overrated comic series of all-time. Writing was good (Gaiman...duh) but the art in the original run always left something to be desired. These omnibuses will look great on the shelf, but be a chore to read comfortably. Thanks for the review, GM!
