The “unsolicited” thing. If I give James Record Company a demo one day, five years later I could sue James Record Company for a song that even has the smallest sound anything remotely like mine, if we didn’t stipify ownership and use when demo was exchanged.

I know very little about this, just what my kids have been buzzing in my ear about.

The DJ is Joe Mantegna, best known from the TV Show Criminal Minds. Also, the guy in the air vents is Michael Richards best known as Kramer from Seinfeld. Also Milo the station manager (Michael McKean) is the lead singer from This is spinal tap. Also known for being Lenny on Laverne and Shirley, and Chuck on Better call Saul, AAAND the cop who pulled over Steve Martin and John Candy in PlanesTrains and Automobiles

So, this is where Joe Kelly got the inspiration from... Deadpool asked the same thing when Kelly wrote the comic (which started the whole Bea Arthur fandom of Deadpool).

So much fun to see all those actors earlier in their careers.

I have never seen this movie before. Wow, there was a lot of great actors in their infancy here. Such a funny movie.

Also, the cop that walked up with Chris Farley and Ernie Hudson from Ghostbusters was Allan Covert, Sandler’s old best friend in all Sandler’s films, Sandler’s co-writer and co-producer, and star of his own Sandler-production Grandma’s Boy.

Ya this movie is one of my favorites cause it's got all my favorites chris Farley, steve , Adam and so much more man sooooooooo good everyone should watch this movie

I watched this in the movie theatre. Opening night, 9 pm screening. There was me and my friend, and two other people there.

I'm kinda surprised a band hasn't tried this before. Back before internet, people actually had to go to the radio to hear new music.

I haven't watched this in a while, forgot how good it was. loved how much you enjoyed it.

He can't listen to unsolicited material because that opens them up to a lawsuit later. If the company ever releases something that sounds even remotely similar (which could easily happen), the person could come back and accuse them of plagiarism (even though it may not be true) and sue for compensation and part or all of the profits. It's the same with books and scripts.

No. It was the Fox Plaza Building. It's next to the Fox Studios, which put out "Die Hard" and "Airheads".

Also, Chazz's girlfriend was played by Amy Locane, who played opposite Johnny Depp in the John Waters movie "Cry-Baby'

Loved that movie growing up, but she's actually in prison now, for killing someone with her car.

Two people from Ghostbusters were in this. Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson.

3:45 That’s a Game Gear, which was pretty much Sega’s version of the GameBoy, except it had a full-color backlit screen. I still have mine from the 90s, and still works perfectly!

You were almost right with the game system. It was a Game Gear, Sega’s answer to Gameboy and the first color portable game system. Also, another very famous actor is Michael Mckean (Milo) who is in all the Christopher Guest Movies (definitely watch Spinal Tap!), and lately was in Better Call Saul.

I'm really happy you loved this movie so much. I seen this in theaters and it's one of my favorite comedy movies. Every time I hear someone say "shut your pie hole" I can't help think "what's that some kind of cracker slang" 🤣

If you'd like to become more acquainted with Brendan Frasers work, I urge you to check out The Mummy and The Mummy Returns. They aren't horror movies, in case you're wondering. They're more like action adventure. I really think you would like them. Journey To The Center Of The Earth is another good that stars Brendan.

the guy who gave them the contract with the slick hair is judd nelson who was in breakfast club and i am surprised you had never really seen alot of brendan fraser but this is one of my faves with him, oh and the DJ with the frow hair is joe mantegna, which you may best know him for the god father or if you've seen the simpsons he is fat tony.

Unsolicited material referrs to when a record label takes a submission or demo directly from an artist. The reason they don't take it is they run the risk of getting flooded and overloaded with submissions from artists trying to get a deal, and sometimes the artists can later sue if the label dispenses a product that is similar to the submission. It's basically legal ass covering.

Really would love to see a sequel to this.

One of my kids had a copy of it on DVD but I guess another commenter said you can rent it on Amazon Prime.
