Sandbergs are the most incredible basses ive ever played. If i ever have enough money for one then its happening and ill be happy for the rest of my gigging days. Cool video aswell, great craftsmen-ship.

My dad had a sandberg p-bass from the 90's. It is the best bass i've ever played, it was good for rock, regea, blues, funk even metal. I Think im gonna buy one of theNew "Seventy-Tow" models

Is that the process that every guitar/bass goes through before leaving the factory?

Nice video! Only if you saw my face when the video showed all the guitar blacks stacked up.I got into woodworking 5 years ago and I wanted to make a guitar. 5 years later still haven't made one. :/ do you sell any kits or Would you be able to help me out with a kit. I don't have a CNC to cut them like you do , but I do have a router.

Nice!! What kicks most ass about it? I must say, yesterday I saw a video of a Sandberg bass being played at an Opeth gig. They're loud and it still massively cut through the mix... Thought only maple 70's with loads of mid could do that...

It's very aggressive - mine is alder body with maple fretboard - has a lot of mid frequencies, and very "tight" lows. I've played lot of jazz basses and only Fender Geddy Lee Signature was more aggressive than mine, but has less "bass in bass". You can check out my YT profile for video with Sandberg - at Taurus review it's recorded pretty properly (covers I made are recorded into PC line input and don't show real sound).

It looks very nice, but now when I'm waiting two extra months because body for my bass (California TT) broke during manufacturing process I'm more sceptic about Sandberg. But! I always wait for final product to judge. :)

Is the plek machine-treatment standard for all instruments now?

  • @zakwasny

P.S.: I was told from the dealer (not directly from Sandberg, so I can't tell if it's true) that body broke during drilling a hole for neck attaching screw (sorry for poor English, but I hope you understand what I mean). ;)

Wann ist denn Sandberg von Wolfsburg (ich glaube StdT Ehmen Straße Am Sandberg) nach Braunschweig umgezogen und warum ? Unser Bassist hatte einen der ersten Bässe ca. 1995 von denen.

That's a setback :-( The process does look quite craftful, did you get told how it was broken (can't imagine a body breaks that easily)

3:03 Why is the fretwire so oversized?

  • @tobiriesinger

So they can use the fretwire on their guitars and basses and don't need to buy extra wire if they have to build an extended range instrument like a 6-string bass. That would be my guess.

Looks scary when the wood is being rasped off the neck by hand. I like the result though.
