Sand Casting A Signet Ring [How To]

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hi everyone, Thanks for watching my video!!
Sand casting might seem intimidating, but I promise it’s actually pretty easy and fairly cheap as well.
This video should give you a broad overview on how to cast most signet style rings.
Don’t worry about the gold skull I soldered on, that’s just something I added for a little flashiness.
I total I spent roughly $110 to start sand casting.
I am going to break down the cost of materials below:
-2 Piece Flask: $21 - $25
-Delft Clay: $49 for 4.4lbs (you can buy petrobond off of eBay for a lot less).
-Brush:$1 (Used to dust off the mold and ventilation tunnels)
-Putty Knife: $1 (Bought mine from the dollar store. Works great to remove excess sand from flask).
-Flat Head Screwdriver: $1 (Dollar store item, used to remove sand to form tunnels).
-Map Gas: $13
-Crucible Kit: $20 on Amazon
-Baby Powder: $6
-Mold: (The price of this depends on the ring or item you purchase).

This was totally awesome! Great piece! Have you figured out how to keep the patina nice after wearing for some time? My patina always goes away on smooth surfaces using liver of sulfur.

Thank you, I really appreciate it. I haven’t noticed anything crazy. The most I’ll do it tumble it if it gets a little dull but those who have bought pieces from me have never complained about it going away.
