He talked about doing this on the XLNT podcast. He DJs at double the speed. The actual set is like 15 mins. Then it gets slowed down for the video. Pretty wild. DJing at double the usual BPM is wild. The crowd actually heard it way faster lol.

Pretty sure he played the set on double the bpm and had everyone dance normally. I guess to really just focus on the raw emotion and joy of music and happiness when played in normal time.

I wanna know what set of music San Holo might have played for the video vs the set we're listening to. I imagine for every 60 seconds of audio we hear would equate to roughly 45 seconds worth of video, as it would be viewing at roughly 75% speed. Super interesting concept. I wanna know how it was done! Lol

He played exactly what you're hearing, either with master tempo turned off (so that the pitch doesn't stay locked) and the tempo sliders pulled up what % they decided on. Either that, or he took all the songs he wanted to play in to Ableton, warped them faster (with warp mode on pitch) and rendered those out. It would have sounded pretty hilarious in person, fast af and high pitched, but if you take that recording and warp it in Ableton to "normal" speed (again with warp mode on pitch) you'll end up with what you hear here. It's also possible they did all this, and then went back and rerecorded the set, reproducing what he did with "normal" music and slapped that on the video. This could yield better fidelity. I'm thinking this was the case because some of those sound color and normal effects he used on the DJM might not come across right if you took the first approach I described.
