The first mention of San Gemini dates back to 1036 and is reported in the foundation deed of the Abbey of San Nicolò.
In the 7th and 8th centuries the districts of Terni and Narni found themselves disputed between the Lombards and the Byzantines until the territory was affected by the establishment of the Byzantine Corridor, the narrow strip of land that connected Rome to Ravenna along the ancient Roman roads of the Via Flaminia and the Via Amerina.
It was precisely within the Byzantine Corridor that between 817 and 962 the territory of what would later become the free municipality of San Gemini began to be established.
The name we use today dates back to the 9th century, paying homage to the memory of the monk Yemin (Gemino), who came to preach here from distant Syria. So it didn't take long to spread a particular denomination: city of Santo Gemine.
There is not much information on the life of the saint: we know of him that he was the son of Miliziano, a Syrian general who, together with his wife Balia, converted...............................................................

what do you like best about your town and what do you not like about it? Thinking about making a move. :)
Our family of 12 just spent three glorious weeks at Santi Terzi in San Gemini. It is a wonderful, peaceful village. Everyone is very friendly. The village comes alive at 10:00 pm with adults and children running and playing. We will miss the tranquility. Because it was 100 degrees plus while we were there, we didn’t get to walk as much as we would have liked, so this video takes us everywhere we didn’t get to see. Thank you.

Ciao Ann Marie, oh... indeed San Gemini is one of those "less touristy" towns which I especially adore and one of the reasons to start this channel 3 years ago, to show the "unusual" towns of Italy. A stunning town, loved it very much. First time I actually was there, so it was quite a discovery. Perhaps in summer it would have been quite tough to walk around though... A big ciao from near Rome and thanks for the comment Riccardo

That area in Terni has many interesting locations. Bevagna is a true gem of medieval buildings. Foligno should not be overlooked. Too bad that so much of Terni was destroyed in the war. San Gemini has such great stonework; colors, patterns and shapes. The pavers are really special. The area is great for riding a bike since it is so flat by Italian standards. Can't wait to get back this year.

Another great walk Ric. That view at 10:35 and 12:50... wow... Stupid question : if you live in those old houses in these narrow alleys, like the ones at the beginning near the 5:30 mark or at 15:16 or 16:40 or 41:08, how the hell do you have anything remotely big (fridge, couch, etc...) delivered? If you need anything repaired, where does the tech park his car (unless it's a Smart like at 42:00, LOL)? And I want a Fiat Panda.
@StillWanderer

Hi Hugo, always happy to read back from you. It's actually rather hard to move stuff in old houses and alleys...they even use smaller vehicles to move stuff around. And... To be honest, I love the Panda, especially the 4x4 version! It's a car I adore 🤗 That smart car is nothing to what I saw in some places !
