Black Manta is the archenemy of Aquaman. I'm a big fan of Aquaman and loved the cartoon of him.
Geral McBoing Boing was based on a story by Dr. Seuss and the animation was done by UPA Studios. UPA also did the old Mr. Magoo cartoons and Gerald became their mascot in a sense. UPA studios also did the first horror animated short by adapting Edgar Allan Poe's Tell-Tale Heart.

If memory serves me correct, Gerald communicated by making "boing-boing" sounds rather than talking like most other people do.

Some old cartoons that you hardly ever see stuff like this on: Beanie and Cecil, Go Go Gophers, Little Audrey, Baby Huey, Nancy and Sluggo and Ricochet Rabbit
You and Jen are adorable. I loved the Simpson's picture. Thanks for sharing all of your awesome adventures with us.
I'm going to have to give the notion of the ghosts being monsters a hard NOPE. They may have been monsters in PuckMan, but they're ghosts to me in Pac-Man.
Maybe one day comic-con museum will have an exhibition of the "Adventures of Jacob the Carpetbagger" 😁
Groovy vlog! I love Scooby Doo & I still watch the original cartoons ;) I am a kid at heart
It was the Hall of champions museum.. Nice to see you made it here to San Diego

Black Manta first appearance was in Aquaman 1967. Manta sought vengeance against Aquaman for killing his father. Who himself had been in seeking revenge for the death of his own father at the hands of the Black Manta.
When I was just a youngling the laundromat that we used had a singular arcade cabinet of Miss Pac-Man. The perfect way to pass time while clothes were getting washed and dried. I wasn’t good or anything but, it was fun.
Good to see Gumby is still around. He enjoyed a resurgence in the 80s thanks to Eddie Murphy doing a sketch of him on SNL.
What a fun day of claymation memories for me by watching your visit at the museum, Jacob.💕 I attended Gumby's 40th birthday party at an art gallery in LA where I not only got to speak for a time with Art Clokey; but he asked me to help him blow out the candles on Gumby's cake. A day I hold dearly in my heart. As to Mr Bill .....I made a Mr Bill costume and won the costume contest at my school in 7th grade. I got so much candy that year too!!.😁
Definitely the most interactive and entertaining exhibit they had at the SDCCM. Cant wait to see more.
Back in 1990 & 91 I worked at Balboa Park & the San Diego Zoo when I was in high school. Both are very nice places to visit. I live in Michigan now. Another cartoon that came out in the 80's was Jayce & the Wheeled Warriors. There is a Kokomo in Indiana. That's the only one I know of. Didn't know the Beach Boys went to Indiana.

Boy The Animation Academy Looks Like A Lot Of Fun, I’d Spend Hours There Lol
I love the Design of the building the mesum was in and mesum was amazing
Gerald mcboingboing was created by Dr.Sueus. after his death the cartoon script was turned into a book posthumously, but illustrated by another artist, as a tribute to seus.
I went to the San Diego ComiCon twice in the 90's. Talk about sensory overload. So much stuff to see and cool collectibles. I don't think this museum existed when I lived there.
I remember watching Gumby on Nickelodeon and Mr. Bill on FOX Family Channel!😂🤣❤️📺🎶👍🏻
Tony the tiger was frosted flakes They're Grrrrrrrrrrreat! 🐅
Nya is the sound that cats make in Japanese and Nyan is a pun with that and I think "neon" because it's brightly colored.
Tony the Tiger was Frosted Flakes, yummy!!! In the early 70’s a very skinny German shepherd came to us in a terrible rain storm and scared to death, as if he had been abused, my sister nam d him Scooby Doo we love that show, this was a wonderful vlog Jacob love cartoons 😊
Gumby was one of the shows I watched as a child. It also got me interested in Animation.
San Diego Comic Con is the multimedia big one. The best coming up on in the country to see actual comic book talent is in Baltimore every year.
Hi Jacob, the Tony the tiger cereal was Frosted Flakes, love the video, love you
Another fun place to visit in San Diego! I'll wait until it's complete in 2024. Thanks!!
Thanks Jacob. Had a pac man lunch box w thermos, years years, ago. Awesome.

san deigo is where alex, monty, melvin and gloria are from.
11:13 Gerald McBoing Boing was Dr.Seuss' Oscar winning short from Columbia Pictures and UPA and had starred in 3-4 cartoons after until the golden age of animation ended until in the 2000s when Classic Media had bought a lot of the UPA properties, they decided to do a short lived animated series.
I have been to the San Diego Comic Con a few different times, and it was a great experience! But, since I have last been to this Con, it has gotten CRAZY! The tickets sell out very quickly and early on! Then you are packed into the Convention center like sardines! People line up HOURS BEFORE a speaking panel begins, to be able to get a seat! I have heard of people spending the night, just to be able to, get a seat, for a Guest speaker panel! 😳 I have not been back, to the Con, in awhile because of how buzy & crazy it has gotten! But you need to experience it, at least once! ☺ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
San Diego Comic Con is absolutely on my bucket list. I've been to various sci fi and comic con but San Diego is the biggest. The thing I like most is that you're completely surrounded by people who get it. Who are just as weird as you are, and don't care. Every time I walk into a con I think "my people!"

@@insanecommander5948 I never really had butterfly's in my stomach about going to a con. I had heard it described as a three day long party with a science fiction/fantasy theme, so I was just looking forward to it. I'm guessing you have a bit of social anxiety. Just don't sweat it. I met people at that first con I'm still friends with and that was in 1989. Just go and have fun. Sorry if I wasn't helpful.
One word.... FABULOUS!!
I went to this exhibit on Sunday and it was Amazing!
I remember watching Gumby as a young child in the 80's and I was deeply disturbed for whatever reason I'd always jump up and run to change the channel when it would come on lol

Black Manta is a supervillain appearing in dc comics and he was endured as the archenemy of aquaman
Got my first postcard!
He’s called nyan cat because nyan means meow in Japanese, and the song playing is Nyanyanyanyanya which is sung by Hatsune Miku, the voice synthesizer. Can’t remember the song’s producer’s name
Gerald McBoing-Boing couldn't talk but he would make sounds instead. He could sound like a train or an animal or basically anything else and that is how he would communicate. Originally created in the 1950s but there was a tv cartoon series in 1956 and another in 2005 that was made for young children. Before Gumby there was George Pal who made a lot of 3d characters cartoons. Of course we can go back to the 3d animated King Kong who probably inspired them all.
My heart breaks for Jen not knowing Scooby-Doo Doo lol
6:42 Yea they are ghosts, basic hard wiring to call them that even after talking about how they are not that lol 15:45 I need about of dozen Monkey Butlers lol That look he is givin' hilarious.
Man I haven't seen gumby in at least 10 or 14 years
Stop motion is time consuming, but I still feel like good old animation still takes longer frame by frame…
@AvengerII
Жыл бұрын
You know -- I used to think that but I'm not so sure. Sure, computers CAN be used to recheck footage more easily and make stop motion sooner but you still have to build and paint both the sets and characters for stop motion... as well as computer set-up and measuring to see what your next movement should be! That is at least as tedious as hand-drawn animation. With hand-drawn animation, you can overlay sheets of registrated paper to check your work OR do this in layers in a computer program! You can't really overlay more than a few frames (if possible) with captured still for stop motion. They still use mini-measuring tools to check where they should move (and how far) limbs of puppets. I would also maintain it's more time-consuming to build things (hammer, nails, and whatever other hardware you use) for stop motion than even hand-drawing traditionally or with digital tools (animation and photo-editing software). There are people who can still draw decent characters and backgrounds faster than anyone can saw and nail sets together. It was estimated by someone else that digital ink and paint sped up some traditional animation jobs as much as 500-600% minimum because you no longer had to wait for paint and ink to dry! Even with good drying tools (heat gun or lamp) it may take upwards of at least half a day for a paint-loaded cel to dry enough to be photographed. Models sprayed with an airbrush take less time to dry to the touch (heat gun or not; most modelers doing contract work use heat tools to accelerate the paint drying and drive out the moisture in the paint) because the paint is misted on in thinner layers than you can manage with any quill pen or paint brush! One advantage of both polygon-based animation and stop motion is once you have your "master puppets" built, you don't have to constantly rebuild them. With hand-drawn animation, you're stuck with redrawing and distorting the character to get decent-quality animation but there are benefits to redrawing characters. It's very difficult to "stretch and squash" puppets without building a new puppet constantly and they're still working on emulating things that were routinely with hose and tube, stretch and squash animation in CG animation. The best hand-drawn animation still looks smoother and more "lifelike" than the best poly and stop motion animation.
If only parents could teach there kids not to hit other children with anything unless it's in defense of there lives, the lunch boxes would still be made of metal! I loved the metal lunch boxes!
Hey Jacob, Gerald McBoing Boing didn’t speak; he was a boy full of sound effects! Also, Jabberjaw’s voice was based on Curly from The Three Stooges.
The CC Museum replaced the Hall of Champions sports museum which is now located in Petco Park!
Mr bill in comic convention oh yeah 😎
I hope you add spokane,Leavenworth, and CDA to your travels 😊💕

Jacob, Well done on both the maritime museum and comic con. What a nice photo of the Wacky Races, the Army Surplus Special, Grusim twosome, the bulletproof bomb and the Anthill gang, and the Slag Brothers, not Captain Caveman, he was later. And watch out for Dick Dastardly and Muttly. Thank for a good video. Jay
I got to see that zoetrope here in Edmonton Canada at our Summer fair. I'm a huge Simpsons fan so it was Cool to see it
That ending was perfect!
The best stop motion animation companies 1. Rankin Bass (Holiday), 2. Laika (ParaNorman, Kubo and the Two Strings), 3. Aardmann (Wallace & Gromitt, Shaun the Sheep)

Super glad you made it to the Comic-Con museum. It is a little on the smaller side at the moment. I posted some indoor San Diego ideas in yesterday's blog way late. Here are some ideas that I haven't seen others recommend yet: 1. Geisel Library at UCSD (has Dr. Seuss' archives and exhibits) 2. The shops of the Convoy District - not a mall, just an area with cool shops (some really great pop culture stores and amazing Asian cuisine) 3. National Geographic's Beyond King Tut exhibit at the Del Mar Fairgrounds 4. Jurassic World: The Exhibition in Mission Valley Food: 1. Kansas City BBQ (down in the Marina where you were in this vlog) - where they filmed Top Gun bar scenes 2. Liberty Public Market in Liberty Square (tons of great local vendors and food) 3. The oldest still functioning Jack In The Box (San Diego's hometown fast food) 4104 Mission Boulevard in Pacific Beach (the first was on 63rd and El Cajon is long gone) 4. Tacos El Gordo - Super popular taco chain in San Diego and Vegas only 5. Hodad's in Pacific Beach (legendary local burgers) 6. High Pies in Oceanside (the repurposed house from the original Top Gun) - a bit of a drive but a great photo op Hope you are having a great time in this wonderful city and my home!
Place looks amazing
Love this video carpet bagger.
Did they have any more Harryhausen besides "The Tortoise and the Hare?" Any Willis O'Brien? Most stop motion animators were inspired by them, including Henry Selick who did NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS. I used to talk to Art Clokey online in his later years. I mentioned that I liked the voice of Goliath the dog, and he told me he provided the voice. "Hello DAVEEEEEE-Y".
That was a great video, hmm I knew my mom was Mickeys age but did not realize that my pops and Popeye did too!!! I have to admit I saw in the breakfast scene with the TV and cereal there was a milk carton from Dillions!!! Dillions started in my hometown, they sold to Kroger many years ago. But I wonder how that carton got to San Diego and in that display crazy. Dillions were mostly in Kansas and Missouri. I don't think this was open yet when I was there in 21. But definitely want to go back. You should go and do the trolly tours and it takes you to the dole banana factory right next to the Hilton Bayfront. The Yellow Banana boat comes in twice a week I hear it is pretty good .
