Voce sontuosa e magnifica. Perfetto per cantare le parti per basso rossiniano, che sono pestifere per chiunque. Il suo timbro merraviglioso le rende perfette.

Rossini, Verdi, Boito, Bellini, Donizetti , Gounod : quale che sia l'opera cantata da Samuel Ramey è sempre un capolavoro di musicalità e di interpretazione. Un prodigio della musica e del canto.

Lei non dice niente della sua voce è il modo di porgere di Ramey. Si, è vero che Ramey aveva una voce fonogenica, ma dal vivo la sua voce del baritono rossiniano purtroppo si sentiva poco nella sala quando i tecnici del suono dimenticavano di azionare i microfoni 🎤… Che triste fine per questa arte divina … Amen . il vecchio

bodiloto's hater I adore Ramey's GIOVANNI and although I wouldn't consider his LEPORELLO "horrible," I prefer him in the title-role (he's too stately and majeatic to suggest a downtrodden servant).

bodiloto's hater The only bass I can think of who's capable of meeting the demands of the role of ASSUR is Ildar Abdrazakov. He also possesses the due weight and volume such a role requires as well as real understanding and command of both BEL CANTO and ROSSINIAN style. He's a singer on a par with SAMUEL RAMEY,.albeit an entirely different one.
