  Not agreed - there are so many baritones who sing this aria & their voice disappears during the lower notes. The tessitura is clearly for a bass not a baritone - except Ettore Bastianini.

  Qué tiempos aquellos en que acudía al Teatro Calderón de Barcelona y allí le aplaudíamos en cada una de las Zarzuelas de su repertorio. Cantaban con él Gloria Alcaraz y Conchita Panadés. Aprendía a amar a nuestra zarzuela.

  I bought this CD 24 years ago . Just starting as an opera fan . Been a rocknroll Boomer all my life but that PBS bio showed me that Samuel Ramey is a Metal Guy even if he never sang it or is familiar with the genre . I bought this at a Barnes and Noble along with John Fogerty’s Deja Vu all over again . No Tenors Allowed was released in 1999 and Fogerty’s solo LP was released in 2004 . For me both opuses are joined at the hip . The hip bone is a song from Deja Vu called Nobody Here Anymore . Anybody know where I am coming from ? Yes it is a personal interpretation . Regardless No Tenors Allowed rocks . Hampson and Ramey are great Americana Artists who deserve Presidential Medals of Freedom and Kennedy Center Awards !
