Bellissima fiaba musicata da Rossini; "Come un'ape ne' giorni d'aperile" è un'aria bellissima che unisce la bellezza della musica alla difficoltà e al virtuosismo del canto. Ma il grandissimo Samuel Ramey rende tutto meravigliosamente.

@Sebastian Giangregorio Bodiloto's true identity is Archimedes (The Sword in the stone's owl) IMHO 😅

Quite a different way of presenting this number - in fact, i'm thinking of Maomettos two arias when listening to it. But I agree - this aria should be sung by a somewhat lighter voice. Both Dara and Corbelli are eminent performers of it.

The problem is that there are three bass roles in Cenerentola. There is Alidoro - the lowest - Don Magnifico and Dandini. Dandini is usually cast as a baritone these days. Ramey with his matchless technique can sing all of them - but should he? I would like to hear him stick to Alidoro which he would do very well.

Both of them, as almost all roles on F clef in Rossini, except the Buffo roles.

No it isnt. The tessitura of this aria is for a bass singer especially as the range goes from G2 to F3. Some baritones would be inaudible in the lower stretches of this aria.

@@anthonyehrenzweig7697 It is absolutely a baritone aria and according to Handbuch des Oper it's even a lyrical baritone role! Accounting for the generally high tessitura of it, with multiple F's and many turns to E. The aria has no G, but it has an Ab2 which is when the orchestra is not playing which is very audible even for a lyrical baritone. The multiple A2's in the stretta in the end are accompanied by strings only, playing in piano while the other singers sing pianissmo on short notes, also not a problem to be audible in. Samuel Ramey was very famous thus he sang these things even though it's not exactly his fach. He does it, and he does it very well, but it does not change the fact that he mostly sang bass roles professionally and occasionally roles commonly labeled as bass-baritone.

Ridiculous that he can sing this with such accuracy and diction...that is not a light skinny voice!

too slow.... how about the roles he was really brilliant with? This is none of them...

go find the score,you will find out this is the right tempo.

ok... now, 6 months later, I have to admit: it's not too slow. In fact, it's a very good tempo for this aria. Nevertheless he is a better Mefistofele or anything else than a Dandini in my opinion... it's too much of the "I give voice and voice and voice but no more"
