Yea I just got the new Gear VR with controller promo for the S8 plus. I previously had the white one I used. I would also warn people to check that adapter and make sure that latch stays locked. Long story short mine didn't and my S7 edge dropped out it the ground and cracked the screen. Sammy kept saying the S7 edge screen isn't covered under regular warranty. They wouldn't even exchange the VR. I sent them pics and video but made no difference to them.

+Cocoa Puffs, I use both the steelseries Stratus XL for Android (make sure you don't accidentally get the kind for iPhones) *and* the Gear VR controller. I have an S7 Edge and the older white Gear VR, and once I updated my phone's software, I downloaded the patch for the controller.

Questions: Last year I returned another brand VR equipment. I was frustrated. Except when watching my 55" TV, I wear glasses. I couldn't find the right adjustment to go with my vision. I'm a bit farsighted with 1 eye & a bit nearsighted with the other. Does this product give me enough control over that? 2nd: I'm hearing impaired. I use Bluetooth headsets to listen to all my devices. Does this have a Bluetooth option?

Now with metas Horizons os is available for third parties, I could see gearvr being reborn, I had a gearvr and upgraded to q2 and there's really no huge difference except the better games but for media gearvr was a lot of fun. I definitely see it could make a comeback especially now with way more eyes on vr ar. 👀

It sucks that it cannot be used as regular bluetooth gamepad for non-vr games. It's quite comfortable to hold and would be nice to have 2in1 for traveling instead of carrying another gamepad.

With the S8 & soon Note 8 Samsung needs to step there VR game up cuz the tech is there we just need REAL GAME MAKERS with real budgets making games!! Dude when I put my 2016 Gear VR on with my S8(Free remote Gear VR havent came yet)the picture is super clean! I been using the Gear VR sence the S6 & hands down the S8 is the best!! So now that we have a clear screen now SHOW ME THE GAMES!!!!!

Where can i get an MICRO USB device holder or micro usb adapter that holds the phone and connects to the gear vr. I have the type-c but i need the micro usb since i dont have a type-c phone. I also have the charge cable for the gear vr just a bit info so if any knows what im talking about can tell me where i can find what im looking for.

Does it work if i have A50?Isn t it the same size as S8+?

Lots of games at this time. The controller is absolutely necessary for some games. Using the buttons and trackpad on the headset alone is a pain, but doable..

Still waiting for a game that'll utilize the controller as a "flashlight". You point it where you want it while you explore scary shit. CMON WE NEED FLASHLIGHTS

Bence Kovács I don't have to recalibrate it that often but it's definitely in need of better calibration. Since the S8 is utilizing BT 5.0, quadrupling the range, it may just need software updates. I get some drift watching stuff but for gaming it definitely is distracting and breaks the immersion. Unfortunately the other options don't seem to be much all that much better when controllers run $70+.

I can confirm that the new Gear VR wireless controller *does* work with the S7 Edge and the white Gear VR, but I had to update my phone's software first so I could download the patch.

Eli George No, the cover is there to protect the lenses from dust, debris when the phone is not in use. The clips to hold the phone seem pretty strong. As far as my experience goes there's not a lot of looking down combined with jumping up & down, the only real scenario I could see the phone coming loose during use. Although I haven't tried shaking the VR headset with the phone in it and not planning to either. It is adjustable to fit the larger S8+ as well as smaller phones and the right clip with the usb c port can be switched out to a usb micro.

Bertrand Escano Yes but that also doubles the price of entry. At $40 you could alternatively buy a 2 handed game controller for a little more money or try using PS4/XB1. Or even Oculus' own right/left controllers although there may be compatibility issues with certain options.

Brian Watson I would prefer to use 2 wireless motion controllers as that's what the whole VR experience is about. I believe if the hardware is there the apps will follow. but I get the money marketing strategy, eventually 2 will be available, but it just looks like Samsung is just catching up with daydream. I've looked into Oculus' "touch" controllers, they are meant to pair with a PC, not as simple as Bluetooth pair and go
