Really interested to see if the S22 battery holds up well compared to the S21. I like the compact design of the S22 but battery life is a pretty big factor

@@dragon44789 it all comes down to the efficiency of the chipset and phone. iPhones have drastically smaller batteries than the average Android phone, but still last longer than most due to the efficiency.

Exactly my thinking. I was almost sure I wanted S22 until I saw the battery size.

I'll stick to my S21. More SoC power than I need, supports DEX, still looks pristine after a year, got it on a cheap deal at the time, software updates well beyond the expected battery life.

Absolutely a waste of money. Glad i bought the Galaxy S21+ last month. Bigger screen, bigger battery. And new for 670€. Due the new Samsung update policy, I'll get Android 13,14 & 15. Plus 4 years Security Patch Updates. I made a good decision 👍 Best regards from the Netherlands 🇳🇱

I got my S21 yesterday from something like ebay for 485 euros, sealed, definetely not worth the upgrade.

Yea the jumps in technology when it comes to smartphones and laptops are going to be minor now. Smartphones have reached their peak, and its probably not worth upgrading anymore untill a company invents a new battery technology that makes your smartphone last for an entire week.

@@doomguy5420 It's not that much slower than the S21/S22 though I also downgraded from the S21 for the bigger screen and I love mine.

I'm pretty darn satisfied with my S21 experience as I came back to Samsung last year. This S22 does look beautiful with its minor aesthetic update but it's not worth an upgrade. Especially since Sammy increased the android updates up to 4 years starting from the S21 range *That made my day lol*

mate, others are even complaining about their phones being ONLY 6.7 inch lol. sometimes i just don't get them, like, what's the purpose of the phone now if they just want it bigger, when it's supposed to be 'mobile' and portable that is easily able to put on your pocket. BUT HEY, i won't give a fok about what they want, i just think that it's ridiculous.

I love the slim uniform bezels, flat screen and flat edges/back. How I’ve always wanted a Galaxy to look

I totally understand. The s10 was a great phone that always felt like it was going to last. I can guarantee you though, a switch to a s22 will be felt! However, the s10 is still capable of doing almost anything so calling the upgrade necessary would be very dumb

Hi Tech Spurt! I would like to say another great comparison video from you, thank you. When will you be posting up the full review of the Samsung Galaxy S22? I'm going for the S22 in Green. It looks pretty lush, different from the usual colours of the Phantom White and Black. I also like how compact the S22 is which led me to this choice. I must admit, even though the battery power has been reduced to 3700mAh, for me it doesn't matter, it all depends how regular you use the phone (i.e. for gaming, emails, general browsing etc).

Hands down the best quick reviews!!

Hey Tech Spurt, the s22 you have on your hand for the performance portion of the video, is it exynos or snapdragon?

Had to upgrade the aging Galaxy S8 to the latest Galaxy S22 (2022 model) and to be honest its such a huge upgrade in terms of performance and a battery life.

The S21 (except for the unfortunate plastic back) already looked amazing. The camera bump and the bezels made that thing look beatiful, so it's impressive the S22 looks even nicer. It's build quality is very Apple-like with the camera modules and the symmetric bezels, and yay a glass back. The S22 looks amazing.

Glass backs are overrated. Thicker, heavier and more fragile. People are too concerned about having something appear or feel premium. I'd rather they spend the difference on better hardware.

@@Relaxingmusic-ps9bd S10 feels better because haptic motor was on the lower part of the phone (where your keyboard is), unlike in S21 it's on top. That doesn't have nothing to do with glass or plastic. In S22 it's on the bottom of the phone again and it's linear now so haptics should be amazing.

Same here. My S10e served me well for 3 years now. Main reason to upgrade is the awful battery. Getting an S22 is a HUGE gap.

Went to Best Buy and handled one. Like the compact design.

We have snapdragon in our s22 5g range here in australia I'm super excited for this.

samsung trade in offers are very tempting though, for example in Europe, they value an s21at 550€ and I purchased it for 620€ 😅 so not a bad deal after using phone for 9 months. paid only 200€ to get the s22 with free buds pro

From s20 it's not stupid if you look for camera and battery and performance exynos 990 or snapdragon 865 it's not even near the snapdragon 8gen1 or exynos 2200 and the AI too also the battery in 2020 phones last only for 4to7hours max screen on time but 2022 phones 10 hours screen on time is normal expected thing , and the cameras because of the Ai and the improvements on the new chipsets it's like 70% better

@@iikon01 I have the S20U and see no reason to upgrade even though I have Exynos. The S20U comes with 12GB so that is more important than any improvements on the S22U and I am not paying £1250 for the 12GB version of the S22U! Since OneUI 4.0 my S20U battery life has improved and seems faster and as I do not play games the GPU is not important. Def saving money and keeping the S20U and I would agree with Andre.

@@andyH_England if the ultra I agree but I'm talking bout if you're phone the s20 s21 regular or plus and you gonna upgrade to the s22u then it worth it, BTW my phone is s20 plus I'm collecting money for upgrade I mean the exynos 990 after android 12 and one ui 4 gaming become better no fps drop on ultra games like ginshin impact and fortnite but you need to use gaming optimization service and max fps mode but moving to the exynos 2200 gonna be a really big move I'm a gamer so yeah the upgrade worth it also I use the phone camera much for Instagram and Snapchat

@@iikon01 Yes, agree with you regarding the S22 and S22+, there are more reasons to upgrade than the Ultra. Not for everyone, but will be tempting for some, especially, as you say, gamers. I like the S22 out of all three and just waiting to see how the smaller battery performs, I think it will be okay in the SD8G1 but waiting on Exynos 2200 reviews.

Remember. Sd 888 & Sd Gen 1 overheat as hell. Seriously. The best Snapdragon still 865/870. But yeah s22 grip really amazing

Coming from the S21 Ultra, the S22 is admittedly looking more appealing to me. With a smaller, more compact form factor, it's for sure going to be more comfortable to hold and use with one hand. I'm also burned out on curved displays, so the flat display is another positive for me. With the aggressive trade-in deals that Samsung is currently running, it makes the S22 more enticing for me. I'll probably hold onto it for much longer and for more generations to come.

I head the trade in deals are worse than last years and a smaller phone can simply be switching to s21 plus, flat screen is indifferent when using a case so sounds like you just need a s21 plus with a case and actually have extra money in your pocket.

You'll love it. I downgraded to the S21 and it is way lighter and doesn't destroy your hand from holding it all day. I also got it for $479 at Costco new talk about a steal

Hey there! I've got an S22 on order, still wondering if I'm going to be annoyed about the battery life. I'm not a mobile gamer so just using it for usual youtube, Instagram, some satnav and a bluetooth connection to my dslr when out shooting photos in good old Blighty. Coming from S7. Wanted the standard S20 for over a year. Was never able to snag it. Had everything I wanted and the S21 was definitely a downgrade from the S20 so I wasn't interested in it. Just preordered the S22

No Sd card support , no charger , no headphone jack , smaller battery , 1080p display , less ram compared to the s20 , no new features , the snapdragon 8gen1 has heating problems , the exynos is always bad , the front camera hole did become bigger , very high pricing . It s like samsung is going backwards. It ll be much responsable to buy A52s or s20fe 5G 💯

Why the hell can't Samsung put a 1440p / 2K display back that they removed since the S20 series. Only the Ultra models have the best 2K displays now. Dang my 1440p capable Galaxy S6 and 1440p capable S10 looks sharper than the S22 and S22 Plus. I immediately noticed the difference in store when messing with the phones and confirm the feature was missing in the display settings. Samsung just when downhill after the S10 series removing features, no MST for Samsung Pay, no microSD card, lower resolution screens for base and plus model, no charger. It's really a shame Samsung. Still not buying the phone because of this. I don't care how responsive the screen is if the resolution is worst.

My S21 typically lasts a day & a half, & about 8-9 hrs continuous screen on time. Could always be better of course, but not-sub par at all.

I got to experience the exynos 2100 s21 for 2 months and the battery drain on mobile data (I'm a student so got a lot of time outdoors), never played any games on phone, just checked social media and stuff. Also took one or two photos here and there, but s21 barely got into the 5 hour SoT mark. Maybe the snapdragon version has a bigger gap in battery, I don't know. But it's great to hear that it lasts that long for you hope you enjoy the phone man

Finally the bezel is the same top and bottom… as if it was so hard to do, ultra still has thicker bottom bezel and it makes my ocd insane

Exactly! I'm blown away more people aren't talking about that detail. Unless I'm mistaken, this is Samsung's first phone EVER to have all-around even bezels.

The only thing I didn't like about the new s22 is that it has a smaller battery, I wish the predecessor of the s21 had a bigger battery capacity, at least 4200 mAh, it would be a very small difference but at least it would increase the life of the smartphone even if it was just a little, and they didn't even do that, the battery life was already bad, now it only got worse

Cheers! Does the price difference between S22 and S22+ justify? I'm not sure which of them two should I go for..

I love my S20 & skipped the 21 because of the downgrade factors "imo!". I did pre order the S22+ wanting a little bigger phone although I don't like the idea of a flat screen with no side curves. I personally like the curve & with side screen notification lighting, it stands out when chilling around other ppls phones. I'm needing a new screen as I've thrown my current S20 against a wall (hitting a stud on the bottom right of my screen with a $5 see thru cover) like a grown man in a child's body when I got angry at a BF2042 death due to the games bugs. I hope I've grown enough since Nov 2021 to be responsible enough to control my anger & use my new S22+ in a adult'ing manner.

How can flagships phones do away with average batteries? My last galaxy's battery degraded pretty fast. Had to keep replacing it. It would be great if any major brand solves this issue. Will be willing to spend more for such a phone honestly! 🙂

They won't, otherwise how else they are going to keep you upgrading to new one.. once you buy a flagship then you are part of their creamy layer who will keep spending on flagships going forward than goto a lower model....and to make sure you do that battery is deaigned that way

There's a market for those phones. Small, but definitly there. However, an android phone of that size would have horrible battery life..

@@vyvynylification the screen is the main draw of battery power on AMOLED displays. So smaller displays are mor efficient.

Anyone else think Samsung phones have horrible selfie camera? Only reason why I'm considering getting iPhone 13. Seems like most android phones have this problem

IN YOUR IN DEPTH REVIEW I'D like to know more about S22's Voice Recognition AI. They say Pixel 6's Tensor AI is other worldly.

I could get both for $0 with a new Magenta Max plan which is what I was going to upgrade to from Simple Mobile anyway. I use my phone for work. Is the S22's battery more or less efficient than the S21 Plus's

On the s10, i'll be waiting for the SD card slot support to come back before upgrading. Why did they remove it? (Of course for profit - greedy bastards)

5:33 that statement was corrected by Samsung I believe (because people keep asking). S22 is also 48 minimum, the 10 was for some transfer rate stuff so just a trick number.

My only concern is the battery. I'm still on one plus 7pro and want to upgrade but the battery is really worrying me on the s22.

There's a battery comparison out with the s22 ultra vs s21 ultra. The s21 lasted about 8 minutes longer. It could be because of the s-pen or maybe even the more powerful processor demanding more power. However, 8 minutes is irrelevant so it's basically equal. The regular phones however, do have a smaller battery so i'm guessing they'll be like half an hour less OR identical at best. Depends on ur usage whether that's good enough or not. The s22+ is probably a decent golden middle in that it's smaller and more comfy than the ultra but has a noticeably bigger battery than the regular s22. I adore the s22 size but coming from an exynos s20, battery life got so much more important to me and it does worry me this year

Love my S21, and would only be tempted if the new cameras are a big upgrade. Great rundown, as usual, Chris. Love you too.

Looks very nice. I'm due an upgrade end of the month. I've had Android for years and to be honest, just a bit bored of it. I haven't had an iPhone since the 4. I'm genuinely torn between the S22 and the iPhone 13. The S22 is a quid cheaper than the iPhone. Which surprised me.

@@kmorris4140 at that level, they're all excellent. But it's coming down to the operating system. The S21 has a fantastic camera. The S22 will be even better. Plus free buds Pro which are 170 quid.

S22 has way more useful features that Samsung advertises quite poorly for some reason: Edge panel, Dex, Link to Windows (really great if you use PCs), Dolby Atmos sound, Director's View, Shot Suggestions, etc. , etc. But what I like most about Samsung phones is that they use an open ecosystem - it bridges Google, Microsoft, and Samsung services for the best of all three. OneUI 4 is also really nice, neat, and elegant.

I like iOS more than android tho but to me it sounded like u loved the good deal of free earbuds

The size and Design of the s22 are amazing but i am worried about the battery life. If they only went for a 4500 mAh battery It would have Been a preorder buy But now i am Not Sure If i want to buy IT at all
