    No subscription, but it can only be used with Galaxy devices. So unless you have one, a subscription probably works out to be cheaper

    @@J001 It is not. They confirmed it today on galaxy unpacked - it does cost more then the oura but it doesnt have a sub so over time while oura gets more expensive and adds up the smart ring doesnt.

    Can you compare it with the Ultrahuman Ring AIR? Ring AIR seems to be less costly, compatible with both IOS and Android, has 10 sizes, and cherry on top: Has no subscription.

    There's really no benefit if you already have a smartwatch. Personally, I prefer to wear non-smart (mechanical or quartz) watches, so a smart ring is appealing to me so I can still have health and fitness tracking without needing a watch.

    Benefit: two readings will always be better than one. And redundancy: if you're charging one, you'll have the other available in all likelihood. It's also very easy for the watches to lose skin contact during exercise and sleep, which is an issue the ring solves.

    I'd be interested to see how well (or not) it functions with other Android devices. I'm a Pixel user, and am interested in the idea of a smart ring, but I'm not willing to jump to Samsung phone/watch just for this.

    Loved seeing the review! I see that Ultrahuman Ring which has been on the market for a year is a better subscription free alternative given it is compatible with IOS and Android and is priced lower. Can you do a comparison of these with the Galaxy Ring?

    If they can bring the price down it's going to be a game changer for wedding rings, with high tech features and more than 10x cheaper. Who tf wants to spend thousands on a ring that does nothing except to give to their partner, than investing a small fortune on a high tech ring that will do so much more

    My €20 Mi Band 8 can do more and costs less than 1/20 of the price. It even has a display. The battery even lasts 14 days. More than €100 for the ring is extortionate.

    @@TheErsatzCrab It will be interesting to see if these rings catch on in popularity. When smartwatches first came out, they were very much a solution in search of a problem but the health features have given them great value. So a wearable piece of tech that’s sole purpose is health monitoring makes lots of sense. I do see a friction point being that it has less heath tracking features than a smartwatch (this is partly why I believe the Apple Watches became more popular than Fitbits).

    @@jd_carefree I’m aware, but The esthetics is very minimalist, and Samsung is no artisan jeweler. Then again, Apple was able to outsell all the watch brands and it isn’t uncommon for people to wear multiple rings… That being said, for those who don’t already have a smartwatches (the target audience in my opinion) is it’s featureset enough? Anyone with an Oura Ring care to share their experience?

    After some disappointing longevity expectations from expensive and tiny battery powered gadgets (regular Airpods! Airpods Pro, less than 2 years! TWO YEARS!!) i hope manufacturers are more upfront about the useful life of these future inhabitants of landfills and sources of microplastics.
