hello, just replaced my Samsung Idler Pully didn't have to take the back off or deal with unplugging all wiring . the tention of the pully was challenging . but I got it done within a half hour. thanks to these youtube videos. Thanks KZread

Thanks for posting this video! I just had the same problem with my 3 year old Samsung dryer. The video gave me the confidence to fix it myself, which I did in a matter of minutes after receiving the $15 part from Amazon.

Perfect! The tension wheel froze on the shaft, the belt woren through the plastic and tripped the dead man switch. My issue was routing the belt around the new wheel correctly since the belt came off. Your video fixed the problem. *** One thing I will add is to lightly grease the idler wheel shaft. They don't lubricate them from the factory. That's what caused the problem. *** Thank you for posting.

Very good advice, and that is what I did to fix mine. Some added advice while you have the back open, put some lubricant into on the white wheel bearing, apparently that is why my belt came off in the first place. After just re-applying belt, dryer worked for about 3-4 loads then the friction of wheel not spinning caused the whole wheel to come apart. Just ordered a whole new arm n wheel, not too expensive, but woulda been less hassle if I just woulda squirted some oil on the bearing and cleaned it up, originally.

My dryer started squeaking this morning and after some research I pulled out this part according to this video. There were no replacement parts in stock locally, but after inspecting the pulley I didn't notice any significant wear. It seemed that the grease had simply dried/burnt out which caused it to seize, so I cleaned the bushing and added some ball bearing grease. Now the dryer sounds perfect. Thanks for the information!

If the replacement part has a different diameter wouldn't that cause issues? I replaced my pulley and I'm still getting loud squeaking noises.

My samsung is making a loud clicking sound. I am not sure if it is the pulley or something else. I happened after I notice the load wadded up in a big tight ball. My dryer appears to be the same as the video, 3 years old. It is stacked on top washer so hoping we can get in through the backside. Anyone have an idea about the loud click?

I did a screen capture of your video. To share with you all a little trick to make the belt reinstall easier. There is a small hole in that idler assembly arm. For reference I'll refer to the picture of the arm at 2:30 of the video. The little hold directly above the pivot screw for the idler assembly arm. You can use a drill bit or big paper clip to put in the hole then rotate the arm clockwise until the the paper clip goes through into the motor mounting bracket. Once you do that then the arm will stay still so you can route the drum belt without spring tension on it. Once you are reassembled then you can pull the pin. and the spring tension from the idler assembly will be applied to the belt again. Sorry for long explanation but I couldn't add a picture to clarify. This video is a bit jittery and a bit long winded BUT a good clear shot at how to do it easier. Thanks!

I used a small nail for your little trick and it made re-assembly a BREEZE! Unfortunate for me, I was troubleshooting the noise and am confident that it is the crappy wheel on the idler arm as it looks like some plastic melted along the inner edge. At least I can use it till the replacement comes in. *Much Better Ball Bearing one from what I'm reading! THANK GOODNESS and BOOO Samsung!* Anyway, Mike Harmon, thank you for sharing your small hole in the idler assembly arm tip! Greatly appreciated!

Forgot to show you putting the belt on the pulley. You just cut to it already assembled. Other than that, pretty clear video👍🏼 Amazon sells the kit with the belt, pulley and screw, spring, and 4 rollers for like 16$

Push the pulley back and slip the belt onto it, then let the spring ease tension onto the belt.

no need to tear apart the whole thing, i just did it for my DV45H7200EW, just remove the the vent pipe from the back, leave your cellphone inside for lighting, you can then do it with one hand easily, other models i've seen has even larger back panel can be removed so more room to work, but even this one is not hard. btw, i added a bit of lubricant on the new pulley shaft so it might help it last longer.

Mine (2 years old) has a 4 inch round access hole. it is not easy to install the new idler. If yours is like mine you will need to disassemble the dryer to install the new idler.

My dryer did not have an access panel and it's a ittle harder to do if you have to work through the dryer vent hole. Have to do it by touch since my arm blocks the hole. My dryer has a small inspection port on the bottom which helps.

Wow, that is tough!

I wish I could tell you the answer, but I do not know. Take the panel off the back and look in with a good light. Have someone rotate the drum and see if you can find the source. I suspect the belt tensioning system, but you never know where your eyes and ears will lead you.

@@DavidN23Skidoo Possible excessive vibration may be due to the circular fan. If it's out of round it can be the cause of excessive vibration. To check you'll have to disasemble the front of the dryer and expose the fan. Spin the fan and if is out of round then it's lost it's balance. The nut holding it is reverse threaded.

Helpful but if your belt snaps like mine did, you need to take the front apart and go that route.

Thanks I did not change the belt so was able to do this thru the vent tube. Just removed that and did it thru the hole. 10-15 minutes

How did you get the rubber seal back on after you took the tube out?

This worked for me but the belt will not stay on the white pulley wheel. after one rotation it slips off every time. I have tried multiple alignments with the belt to the drum with no luck. Anybody have any advice?

The new assemblies have a sealed bearing, so it should not need oil. For lubing little items like this, and for oiling firearms I use Marvel Mystery Oil most of the time. Marvel has paraffin and that gives it good hang time. I add just a bit of chain saw bar oil, which is very clingy. Don't use too much or your lube will be draggy. That mix makes my .22 pistols run well and it keeps them from rusting if I don't clean them and relube right away after shooting. Dilute that mix with Seafoam and you have a good cleaner-lube. The Seafoam mostly evaporates after cleaning so your firearms are not too oily.

My Samsung dryer internal workings can only be accessed from the front/top. The entire drum has to be removed. The pulley does not have bearings. I bought new parts and the new pulley did not fit the shaft of the idler arm. I did manage to get it on. The dryer doesn't squeal as loud as it had before but it still makes noise. I plan on taking the dryer apart again and applying axle grease to the shaft of the idler arm. Hopefully, this will stop the noise.

The axle grease works great BTW. The belt was a tight squeeze to get to. It goes around the center of the drum and I did it all by feel. Support the drum with the rear rollers as the drum needs to be all the way in in order to give you room to access the back of the motor and the idler arm. good luck as it is a slight knuckle scraper. Both sides of the belt coming from the motor go under the idler roller.

So I'm having trouble putting the dryer back together. The belt seems a couple inches too long. It doesn't click the new idler pulley unless I hold the belt off the dryer drum. How tight is the belt supposed to be? Is there another part that the belt should attach too? It's only looped around the idler and the motor that spins everything.

Yeah, I had the same problem. The idler pulley goes on top of the belt as it comes off the motor pulley. It will seem as if this will make the belt rub on itself but it doesn't. If you are using the same belt then it should fit. There are several videos that show this.

Have this same dryer and put replacement pulley on with new belt as well and now pulley is pulling it sideways? Can anyone help please?

I don't know, but I am guessing that some dryer lint was dislodged and is causing it. I got a facefull of lint when I had my wife rotate the drum while I had my face in the back end. I hope it settles out for you.

How do you put the spring in? I’m having problems with that

Vise Grips are good for hanging on to it while you manipulate.

Great video but for whoever orders the part make sure it has the bevel some will come flat and will wiggle around while it's spinning.

The offset side goes up, the center side goes down.

I just watched some of these video and had no problems changing out the idler roller on my Samsung dryer within 15 mins...

You guys were lucky. My Samsung dryer doesn't have a back panel that can be taken off. I had to disassemble the entire thing to get to the tensioner.

where did you go in? are you going in the back panel by the vent?

@@CarlosGarcia-ij4yg Your model must be different from mine. The vent pipe slipped out and back in with no problem.

Now is a good time to clean the inside of the dryer housing base! Shop vac, then wipe down, then shop vac again to get the loosened dust and grit. A good pair of rubber gloves like the black spider silk double thickness nitrile gloves and long sleeves will prevent the cuts and scrapes you WILL get from the access edge metal. Always remember: clean dryer guts is happy dryer guts, and The #1 cause of Dryer fires is Dryers! My $0.02 anyway.

Just a little past snug. Run the bolt till you feel the head make contact, turn it 'til snug, and then just a bit more. It is possible to strip threads when you over-tighten, or your wrench may slip off, causing you to injure your hand.

It's a plot to wreck our lives!

Playing with the tension, routing the belt and all that can't be easy going through the hole in the back. I can assure you, going from the front is not only easier, it is smarter as well. It gives you a chance to clean out the insides from lint buildup which can help cause dryer fires. If you are going to do the job, you may as well do it right! Also gives you a chance to check the drum wheels to make sure they are spinning freely! (Caution if they are not, be careful not to spray flammable contents to loosen them up and then fire up the dryer when you are done! If you do, make sure they are dry real good before using your dryer! I made this mistake and was smelling the results for almost an hour afterwards! Lucky for me, it didn't catch fire!) I should also let you know that I did this by myself. The drum is extremely light and probably only weights like 5 lbs? The drum also has a line mark for lining up the belt. It is easy and if you dare to stick your arm in a tiny hole to do a fix, you should have the confidence to do it this way! kzread.info/dash/bejne/pYB-0MOgaKjek5M.html
