Let me first say, that I really like SM instruments, and the modeling approach. I'm a fan and a current customer. But I'm sorry, I still think you're doing things wrong with this library. The MOST important feature of a sample library is the tone - this is particularly true for modeled instruments. Flexibility/playability is your strong suit and it's very important also, but it's the 2nd most important feature. Unfortunately, you released this instrument without a dedicated walkthrough for us to fully hear the tone of the instruments. Then, after much feedback from users to release a walkthrough, here you release a video focused on the flexibility & functionality (which is truly impressive), but with almost no focus on the tone. I therefore don't fully know what this instrument sounds like before I buy it. And remember, these walkthrough are my ONLY way to know prior to purchase. You're therefore asking customers to buy this somewhat blindly. Audio demos of full compositions and mockups are interesting, but are not the same thing. These are highly processed pieces of work, produced over an unknown period of time, completed by highly accomplished experts. I want to know what it will sound like in MY hands in real time, and for that I need to see/hear each of the instruments clearly - on their own, performing different passages/styles. I had been waiting for this library to come out for many months (another mistake I think you made with the library: "Coming Soon" on your website, with no further update for a prolonged period isn't good customer relations), and was hoping to compare to Spitfire's Chamber strings. Since I still don't fully know what this library sounds like - even this video isn't on the SM website - I don't even know if it's produced by/in association with SM. In the meantime your competitors have released other products, which have been far more fully demonstrated (specifically, Spitfire's BBCSO - which also has solo/ensembles strings, but also a full orchestra). I understand that Spitfire are a much larger company, and can dedicate greater resources to marketing, but a simple walkthrough of the product prior to purchase is not an unreasonable expectation, even for a small company. As such, I'm afraid you lost a customer here to Spitfire - I'm probably not the only one taking this opinion, based on feedback on other forums. I do wish you well, and remain an interested potential customer, and this is just constructive feedback which I hope will helpful with this and subsequent releases. Best of luck SM.

Dmitry is associated with Sample Modeling instruments. You can hear plenty of examples of tone from the phrases played. And you're going to buy from Spitfire, the notorious developers who leave intonation problems and recording mistakes in their samples without updates for years, and then re-release refreshes and "anniversary" editions at full price to existing customers without even addressing those issues? Trusting anything they sell is blind faith, and everything they've produced has a time cost associated because of their mistakes, which they bury without shame in their advertising material. I disagree with your assessment about the importance of tone, but the raw truth is right here. You're just a bitter individual who is dissatisfied that the library isn't free.

@@Wourghk What??? I have libraries from both Spitfire and SM (before their split from Audio Modeling). I'm happy with all of them. I was considering this one for a long time. If you don't like Spitfire, you're entitled to your (subjective) opinion. But compare the (objective) facts on transparency of Spitfire's BBCSO to Sample Modeling Strings: 6 weeks BEFORE release of the Spitfire library, there is a 30 minute walkthrough of every instrument, and a 30 minute walkthrough showing each track for a composition used as a demo. In addition, they have promised to release more videos, including a walkthrough of each section individually, and a walkthrough on the legatos specifically. All BEFORE the library is even released. I expect they will deliver on this, because it's typical transparency of all their libraries. Now compare that to Sample Modeling Strings. AFTER having released the library, there is still no official walkthrough of each instrument. In this video, there are short phrases illustrating the library's functions (for example, I barely heard the cello, and the bass was not played at all, so I don't know how you reach the conclusion that there was "plenty of examples of the tone". After feedback, SM agreed to extend the introductory price to allow time to see a walkthrough video, but it still isn't out, and if this is meant to be it, then personally I'm unsatisfied with it, and it's not sufficiently compelling to encourage me to buy the product. If it is to you, go ahead - enjoy it. We all vote with our wallets. As for the ad hominem attack that I'm bitter and for some reason want the library for free, I have no idea where you get the need for this childish outburst, but to let you know, as an owner of many SM/AM products (prior to their split: Saxes, Flute, Cello, Violin, trombone, tuba, trumpet), I've spent hundreds buying into the modeling concept. I'm a fan of their approach; they can choose to ignore this feedback, or not, but childish outburst like yours will do them no favors at all.

@@dmitri_goriuc Thanks Dmitry - I have seen your strings masterclass. These are interesting, and well presented. But they are not walkthroughs, and I personally don't consider this a replacement (just my opinion). If SM prefer to use this format for exposition of their products, then that's of course your choice. As a customer, it's my opinion that this isn't the way to do it, and it isn't how almost all other companies walkthrough their libraries, but I wish you well with the library.

@@RLeaguer_Saint Honestly, you're just moaning for the sake of moaning. Buy it if you trust them, don't if you don't. You trust Spitfire, which is laughable, but not SM despite their reputation? To top that off, you're going to post these complaints on the company's public material, for all prospective customers to see, instead of addressing the issue in private like a civilized individual? You deserve every ad hominem under sun and more, you lemon.
