Sambar Powder is the masala mix used while preparing sambar. We normally make this in bigger quantity and store it, and use it as in when necessary.
There are different ways to make sambar like varatharachathu etc..
This my recipe of masala mix for a quick every-day staple sambar powder. This powder is an aromatic blend of lentils and whole spices.
These ingredients are dry roasted and then ground to make a powder. It’s very easy to make Sambar powder at home. You can store home-made Sambar powder for about 2 months.
Sambar powder recipe
Ingredients:-
Mutter Dal- 20 gm
Chana Dal- 20 gm
Udad Dal- 20 gm
Fenugreek- 15 gm
Dry red chilli- 50 g (half Kashmiri and half normal chilli)
coconut oil- 1 tablespoon
Asafoetida- 20 gm
Coriander - 100 gm
Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
Cumin/ jeera - 1/2 teaspoon
curry leaves- 3 stalks
