My suggestion is to please watch the show. IMO the best Star Wars Story in any TV show. The Maul vs. Ben fight is a mirror or rhyme to the Quigon fight. Ben goes on to taunt Maul into preforming the same maneuver he did on Quigon. Which Ben knew the proper counter too. Please ​@sigurdbergsrud6198 watch the first true story of Master and Apprentice.

Most reviews I have seen from that time were positive, so I don't why he think the game was poorly received

Republic Commandos was a gem of a game and I'm super pissed off that it was in the bargain bin by the time i played it the first time. Legitimately one of the best star wars games of that time period.

it was released in march of 2005 right before the Xbox dropped with halo 3 following closely behind. that game was always destined for the bargain bin by virtue of being an incredibly late release on its respective console. it was also released after the first two battlefront games, two kotor game, three rogue sqaudrons, two jedi knight games which were all still going strong at the time. it's inievitable that one star wars game would fall through the cracks and not get the love it deserved.

Republic Commando was my favorite starwars game. I still hope for a second one.

@@Darth_yapperI’ve thought about that possibility. But the fact that almost everyone who worked on those movies don’t seem to be very proud of it, meanwhile, Liam Neeson, Hayden Christiansen, Ewan McGregor and others have all come out saying they were proud of their work on the prequels.

I mean the only real thing about this movie is a fact that it was made by deconstructor Ryan Johnson, who’s usually very good at this, but it SW case didn’t work at all. But if you watch this is as a comedy it works

they need to either remaster that game or make a new game with the same style

Also update I played and platinummed Republic Commando it's one of the best Star wars games ever made (in my opinion) As die hard prequel fan and a clones fan. It's so awesome.

The funny thing is 😅 As questionable as some of the prequel trilogy was...episode 2 mostly, it did contribute to some of the best SW games out there. Like my top 10 SW games would mostly be from prequel related games ❤ I do love Sam ❤

Tbh I think people forget while they are enjoyable movies and shows… they are for kids. We tend to love the ones we watched as kids. When the prequels came out fans of the originals were adults and judged them unfairly as adults and I feel like the same thing is happening again. I’ve seen so many kylo ren and Rey Halloween costumes. Theres going to be a lot more sequel fans, they just weren’t old enough yet

The Prequels were awesome to me. Darth Maul was amazing to see and the lightning quick fights.

Nah, mate. Dave Filoni fits that role pretty damn well. Witwer is a fantastic actor and definitely understands the universe, but I've yet to see evidence that he'd be able to manage such a gargantuan franchise. Like, he's AMAZING at what he does and would be a fantastic consultant, but probably not the head of everything.

Honestly, the perfect example of this is Hayden Christensen. The old guard of the fans hated him, but now that the generation those films were released for is in the media age, we are VERY vocal about how much we LOVED him as Anakin Skywalker, and we lost our minds when we found out he was returning to that role for Kenobi and Ahsoka. And don't even get me started on the AMAZING return of Ahmed Best, which was nothing short of perfect. And that's coming from someone who LOVED Jar Jar growing up.

100%! Just see the response to Hayden just before the Obi-Wan show released and every Star Wars role he’s had in the last 2 years. It only took 20 years for him get appreciated. Plus he’s such a nice person in real life. I met him at the Boston Fan Expo last year and he was such a class act and was extremely gracious to his (many) fans.

And I agree, that Ahmed Best’s redemption has been such a highlight of recent Star Wars.

10-20 Years later the kids that loved and grew up on star wars finally had enough time/money to make the costumes of things they enjoyed most.

I remember the early years of Clone Wars and how it got roasted and everyone hated Ahsoka and now it is considered one of the best pieces of Star Wars Media and Ahsoka is an Icon of the entire Saga with a story still ongoing 15 years later.

i admit i have the clone wars movie that started the show on dvd for the last 15 years and never watched it. i still haven't seen the clones wars and i have no intention it. it came too late in my life and i was a cynical 20 year old when it dropped. and now because of that i only have the slightest idea what is going on in the world when i watch mando. i don't know ahsoka or obiwan any more and there projects treat you like you've seen the clone wars. so i feel like i've been pushed out of the fandom by younger fans with more dedication and time on there hands. like clones wars and it's spinoffs ARE star wars now. which is fair, you guys can enjoy that the same way i enjoy my old now noncanon star wars novels.

​@LorenScott-ub2qb I would say the Clone Wars show is not that bad of a watch, peesonally. Once you get the movie out of the way, just doing an episode a day or every other day is not a bad way to go about it. Heck, you could watch it traditionally and just do an episode a week! It's only about 23-25 minutes of your time every day that you decide to watch it, if you tackle it that way. That's how I watched and read Berserk, and I've seen and read all of that material (every adaptation and manga chapter) in only about six months! I allotted myself a few days where I binged more than that and multiple weeks where I stopped making any progress, so it's not like you have to stay on it every day to finish a series. Not trying to slight you; just trying to provide possible encouragement! It seems like it's too much a lot of times, but once you start settling into chipping away at long series like that, it gets waaay easier! It's obviously up to you if you want to take that journey, though! :)

@LorenScott-ub2qb Age on its own really shouldn't have any hold over your enjoyment of something, imo; that can be extremely limiting and is a fairly old-fashioned way of looking things. I mean no disrespect when I say this, but some of the best stories come from works similar to Star Wars. Again, you're free to do what you want of course, but just trying to let you know that there are about a billion 40+ year old people who lead successful lives and still love indulging in mediums of sci-fi and animation, not the least of which being many of the most influential people today. If you'd rather donate the time to doing other things, it's more than fine! I was merely referring to if you wished to fill the time between your other tasks, like on a meal break at work or something. That's how my dad always watches shows when he's out in the field, so I thought I would make mention of it! Just don't feel absolutely railroaded into not partaking in these things simply because you're x years old, or you're some busy person. You can ultimately choose not to, but I just thought you should probably have other reasons.

The sound designer on that game did fantastic work. In the extras, there was a documentary that showed how they created the sounds for things like the trandoshan foot steps, and I found it fascinating as a kid.

It's because the loudest voice in the room isn't always the opinion of everyone. No one was listening to the kids such as my brothers and I going to the theater, playing the games with our siblings and friends, etc...

The best thing to cone out of the prequels were the games by far, battlefront, republic commmando, starfighter, and so many other just straight classics. The lore is there from the prequels and geroge had a really good layout for the beats of the story but the movies overall were just really bad

i grew up on a laptop instead of xbox or playstation so that game was my halo basically. such a fun game.

I played RC when it came out and don't understand why it got such bad reviews. It was excellent and devs went as far as getting trained by LA SWAat in small team tactics. It really showed they retained and used the knowledge because the team tactics was glorious.

Agreed. I had the choice between getting RC and KOTOR 2, as good as both are I still maintain child me made the right choice by getting RC first.

I stand by the opinion that the prequels weren't hated as much as people make out. The problem was a very small, very vocal minority that crapped on it.

I enjoyed the game so much I immediately started a second play through on the hard difficulty, and finished it, which I rarely do.

riiiiiiight. like the star wars fandom is such a monolith. you do realize that until the recent era of nerds are cool, star wars was not like suuuuper popular with the general pubics opinion right? that the mindsets of the people at the original release time were not fans of what republic commando was. there will always be toxic childbrains to complain about stuff they do not like but they are rarely in the majority.

I loved the Republic Commando game and the Expanded Universe books when they came out. Kal Skiratta and his sons are some of my favorite characters.

Republic commando was amazing. I just wish it was longer.

The campaign was short and the multiplayer was kinda lacking. The review was mixed, not just bad. People did praise the story of the campaign. In the end we love it for the campaign. Basically it is a better star wars game than it is a shooter.

I never had Republic Commandos as a kid, and i felt like i had missed out cause I'd played the rest of Star Wars at that time. So me, a few years ago, sees it on sale on the Xbox store. I grab it. And I was blown away. I probably would've hated it, because it was incredibly hard for me to get the squad mechanics down as an adult, but it was so satisfying, it felt like a real accomplishment to get each level completed. Republic Commandos is a phenomenal game.

Too bad we’re getting another Star Wars game where we use a pistol yay Star Wars outlaws, such a vast amount of lore yet we stick to the basics, I wish for a planet traveling main story game like Jedi survivor again but expand beyond that show us other races and places to discover. I remember playing it while waiting on my results on my entrance exam for high school. I was sure i failed it and my life was ruined, no high school for me but that game was my only escape. Just a little ray of enjoyment. It deserves a remaster

I loved episode one racer, the force unleashed 1 & 2, demolition, battlefront 1 &2, and I had a demo disc with republic commando, and alien. I played the hell out of that demo disc. Being able to mow down geonosians, grab their laser gun and keep going was great.

I loved this clone Unit from RotS the Assassin corps. I got my headcanon,.that ARC Troopers where the Op. Clones, because they could swap into Comando or Assassin's because of they're training and background

I bought Republic Commando the day it released. Stayed up all night to beat it. Went to school the next morning with no regrets.

Grew up with the prequels, and ALWAYS LOVED THEM, how could you not, as a kid? I was 6 years old when episode 1 came out. and I played Republic commando through like 6 or 7 times. Sooo, yeah. I'm going to be the first one to have a Jedi Starfighter, God willing.

I don't remember Reds(red color commandos) name but I was heart broken we didn't get a mission to go save him at the end

It'll be interesting to see how fans look back at present Star Wars in 30 years. When I was growing up during 2000-2010, everyone HATED the prequels and anything regarding it, whereas now most of the fans love what the prequels did. Whether it was genuine reflection, or just realizing it was better than crap we got with the sequels. Still nice to see the prequels get the love they deserve.

Did they though? Because prequel merch, toys, games and expanded material still sold very well. Compare that to sequel toys, merch and expanded material. How many novels and comics starred anakin between 1999 and 2009? Compare that to rey from 2015 and 2025. There's not even a single standalone rey novel as far as I know. Maybe 1. I was to young during the prequel releases but around 2007 to 2010 do you remember how popular the Darth maul face was? Or all the toys? It sold and it was there. We can't say the same for the sequel material.

Damn... didnt know thats why we never got a sequel. I was a kid quietly enjoying it, and couldnt wait for the next installment since the story left it It was such an awesome game!! Loved the squad based mechanics, and the melee tackdown they npcs could do.

I played tf out of force unleashed 1 and 2. But I was also a kid, I imagine all the adult fans hated it. But kids don't have preconceptions yet, so we were able to enjoy it and 10 years later show our love for it as adults.

Its as simple as the people who grew up in the Prequel era of Star Wars are adults now who have a lot of fondness for the movies/ shows/ games of that period. Prior to them, it was only Star Wars fans who were pissed it wasnt like the OG trilogy

As someone who hadn't played Republic Commando until late last year, it has also aged remarkably well, it's still a very good game!

I think it’s because as a kid I didn’t know about reviews or going on line and talking about the Star Wars stuff I loved. So I just enjoyed it talked with my friends who enjoyed it and assumed all Star Wars fans enjoyed it. I was surprised when I learned that people hated the prequels or that republic commando wasn’t huge. I believe that’s what it was like for a lot of us growing up. Even now with all the new stuff I’ve found I still enjoy Star Wars despite or because of its flaws (not sure which lol)

Republic Commando is definitely top 5 Star Wars games of all time it was overshadowed by Halo 2 plain and simple it was an INCREDIBLE game and needs a sequel

the thing is, the prequels and games like Republic commando are literally THE THINGS that got me into starwars, like directly all the stuff from that era, and theres alot of us that are like that, i love the og stuff alot at this point but when i was a kid the og stuff was boring to me, that's jusg me tho i was the kind if kid who didn't wann play a game if you were forced to read alot cause it was boring to me, thats when i was only until i was like 9 or 10 tho then i was able to appreciate more shit like that

I stared at the Republic Commando game at the store for a whole year before my mom bought it. I played the shit out of it and the music was insane.

All of the critics and reviewers, can go play with themselves, that game was absolutely class, not only for the story and characters but for the tactical gameplay as well, the way they actually went about understanding small unit special forces tactics and manoeuvres was above and beyond and really made the game such an absolute 10/10

love republic commandos. They put so much effort into it, great character work, decent FPS gameplay for the time.

Sam should be given his own project, atleast give him another starkiller role.

Everyone (yes, generalised. There were enough people) hated Hayden Christensen as Anakin, and then he returns in Obi-Wan and Ahsoka, and everyone loves him. Fans are wild

I got republic commando in walmart with 5 other starwars games having never heard of it before. Turned out it was a classic, Cant tell you how disappointed I was when I found out the end of the that story was in book form, I was ready to go on a mission to save our boy.

Every kid who played it loved it, but I can totally see how a reviewer at the time might intentionally play up prequel hate if they thought that was the more popular position.

I would even argue that Star Trek is the same way. Star trek enterprise was looked down on for a long time and now it is hailed almost 20 years later as great trek.

A lot of games are like that (a lot of media in general too). Take Legend of Zelda Wind Waker for example. The opening of the game shows it was clearly meant to be a sequel to their last biggest game Ocarina of Time, but many people were so distracted by the fact it lacked the same kind of realism that they couldn't see the charm. Their next game, Twilight Princess, also acts as a sequel to Ocarina of Time, completely skipping Wind Waker as if it had never happened. Unsurprisingly, it's considered a great game now, and what's frustrating is that I could've told you it would be, but they didn't know that, so it was abandoned.

The game was reviewed poorly when it came out? Thats crazy because the game is amazing. Definitely needs a sequel

I will never be ashamed to say I love the prequals and sequal and Phantom Menace is my favorite star wars movie. Of the original 6. Clone Wars however is my favorite star wars media and I consider Bad Batch apart of it

Republic Commando is a top three favorite for me.
