I’ve seen this special a bunch of times but this time 2 things come to mind: - Sam’s voice is 100% perfect for his style - that being good at breathing underwater line was super-underrated!!

I checked one of those inmate date sites and found a woman who is in for attempted first degree murder and "full of surprises" according to her profile. Incredible stuff

His joke writing is refined as hell. If this is his first special, I mean, hats off.

I used this special to help break up my bronchitis. Needed to laugh the crud out!! Laughter is the best medicine. Thanks, Sam!!!

@Illuminated Soles to be honest yes, but when I seen him his special was going to air the following month so he just did alot of material he was working on. He literally had his phone out scrolling through his notes throughout the set

​@@joec.457 Pretty brazen to say that the literal *one* line at 36:11 counts as "stole his material." Bo Burnham got popular through KZread, and if you look at times he's met up with other older comedians most of them don't know who he is. Yes, Sam Morril is closer in age to Bo, but Sam tours and otherwise does NY clubs. Bo's never been in that circuit, so the odds that Sam has seen all, most, or even *any* of Bo's material is pretty slim. Most NY comedians only really know material from other traditional comedians and oftentimes only because they watch the other sets at the comedy clubs or their friends' specials on Netflix. It's extremely likely that, given it was a one-liner, it was just a bit of clever wordplay that Sam thought up for a short bit in otherwise unrelated hour of material. People like you that act like one single circumstantial overlap in material counts as "joke stealing" are the actual joke.

@@idontwantahandlethough but you mentioned doing it in an ethical way. Some might not think there's an ethical way to do r*pe jokes, but I've heard a ton of funny ones, so it really is subjective. Plus I don't think it's comedy's job to be ethical. For example, depending on your sensibilities, as funny as you think he is, you might not find him doing a joke like that funny

Very funny! Very funny! The bit about girlfriends wanting to change a man reminds me of my husband’s best friend. When we started dating, my now husband told me he had standing plans with his friend to go to a bar for “wing night,” every Monday. Ok.🤷🏻‍♀️ Then a few weeks into our dating relationship, he asked me out on a Monday night. I said, “what about wing night?” He told me, “I would rather spend time with you than eat hot wings in a smokey bar with my friend.” (His mom and aunt and two uncles had all died of smoking related illness within 18 months of each other…his mom had passed away only a little over a year prior.) So, I asked him what his friend said about him not going to wing night? He started laughing. He said, “that’s how it starts.” That is when I gave him the talk: “If you decide to spend time with me instead of your friends, you need to make it clear that it is completely your idea. You are a grown ass man, I will not tell you how to run your life, and I don’t find it cute for people to think I am dictating where you can and can not go at any given time.” Then I asked him if he thought it was sad that his friend had some sort of recollection of when his wife first started dictating his life to him? We joke about “that’s how it starts,” all the time. His poor friend. We have been married for 14 years and, as adults, we are free to decide what we will do independently of each other, because we are still grown ass adults.

I've loved this guy since the 1st time I've listened to him. I put him up there with the best of them. He just keeps getting better and better too

Sam you absolutely destroyed. The amount of actual content we got in this special is rare. No long-winded jokes. No gimmicky bs. Just meticulousness with a shot of flat-out buffoonery and good old-fashioned fun. Thanks for the special Sam

Amy Schumer is like the Edison of comedy. She doesn't do much herself but surrounds herself with so much talent.

Bit late, but I really enjoy how you're taking basic jokes or topics that have been covered a million times and still find the right spin to make it fresh. Also some really creative new jokes in between, just a great mix. I'd love to see you if I'm ever in the U.S. :)

Not even 5 minutes in and the baby wearing the "I love life" "he would grow out of it" had me laughing...then it hit me again a few seconds later like "ohhhhhh I see what you did!" This dude is a genius.
