Sam Harris and Yuval Noah Harari on meditation
Sam Harris and Yuval Noah Harari talk about why meditation is not about trying to achieve any particular state, but simply paying attention to the present moment. And independent of your natural ability, virtually everyone would benefit from practicing meditation.

"What you are really looking for in meditation is something intrinsic to the nature of consciousness that you can rely on as a foundation for well-being". This is it in a nutshell....
I have a journal entry from when I was 18 (I'm 36 now) where I note a remarkable experience where I was able to instantly release a feeling of anger. It was so surprising to me. Yet I did not learn the lesson and the spent the next 18 years getting angry and upset over things.

I just did an hour, mind all over the place, I feel asleep and bit my tongue many times. That is my reality.

I so agree. I think he's one of the most gifted minds alive today of which I am aware. Y.H. is also gifted. I feel so lucky to be aware of each of them.
“If you want to understand your mind, sit down and observe it” - Sam Harris’ teacher/friend was told by his teacher in Asia

This is very concise
Host starts off “As a fairly experienced meditator ... can you tell me about any specific experiences from meditation..?” No, that’s not how it works.
Yuval Noah Harari is Best 💯⭕

@@shoampeer you can start with just sitting for 20 minutes (take timer on mobile) and just sit there. Do nothing. You can search «how to meditate on KZread» there are many good videoes, good luck friend

@@shoampeeryou would find a “Sam Harris meditation” video on KZread itself. Or best to sign up for Sam’s meditation app “waking up” . I could give you a month’s free access ☺️
He explained Jiddu Krishnamurti in another way😊
"Yoga chitta vritti nirodha". That's it
Damn, I get what the other guy was saying but the way Sam said it was immensely articulated. A lot of the woo woo does mislead people when it comes to meditation and people are stuck feeling disappointed,
No one has defined Meditation as easy as Buddha, he says Meditation is being a witness, witnessing in hindi 'Sakshi Bhaw' , and the process to do meditation he invented was Vipassna , which means watching, in hindi 'Dekhna',being a watcher. No other process has Enlightned man, the way Vipassna has done. - osho

All of Harari’s comments on meditation are paraphrased Goenka. I have yet to hear him make an original comment publicly on meditation.

it's like seeking an original comment about fishing from a butcher ..i.e Harari is an author, historian, philosopher ...he happens to be an advanced meditator but that's not what he sells
I think special experiences are mundane as well. Stop selling the mind short.

One said 'I drive my car.' The other, said, 'Here is how a car works and how it relates to the experience of driving.'
Yuval is just thinking with his eyes closed.
