The comment..., " My blood is good blood. It's 40,000 years old", was about his Anglo Saxon DNA / ancient blood line. I am Anglo Saxon and think the same about that DNA. .., I too, am O+. My Beautiful Lady was a 400 ft long U S Navy Destroyer. Sam Elliot would have liked a ride at Flank speed, for a 3 day charge at the enemy. Facere non Dicere. The wind speed was 235 MPH at the eye Wall, when all three wind anemometers were destroyed. The EYE of an F 5 hurricane, was a Priceless experience once inside. the bow split and we started going under ... but here we are

The Name of the film is The Blue Lightning. Harry Wingate, an ex-cop turned private eye who lives on a schooner in San Francisco Bay, is persuaded by a jewel merchant to travel to Australia to retrieve a fabulous opal, "The Blue Lightning," from Lester McInally, a ruthless international criminal and terrorist hiding out in Australia's outback. Wingate is assisted by the wife of the jewel merchant's agent, and they are subjected to incredible risks as they challenge the evil McInally in his desert fortress.

Sam Elliott has a voice for the westerns and a movie talent for any movie he starred in, I love the fact that you’ve got gear changes on a jag MK10 that was only autoshift built and has a V12 or straight 6 definitely not a V8, but what’s in a sound bite. This movie is full of American catches for the time, Bad guys with unending and ammo that goes way beyond it’s effective range, the 9mm uzi in the plane sequence couldn’t punch through the aluminium of a plane skin, at the distance i mean if it was a lucky shot then it was one helluva lucky shot, Harry’s 9 shot 44 magnum,(I know they now make a .22 possibly a magnum but it don’t sound like a .44) in the cable car. And why do the bloody guns keep changing, in the aboriginies getting the 2 guys watching them at the cattle station the .303 Enfield rifle (the fella used a left handed technique used by British and Commonwealth forces mostly in WW2 after it was found left handed chaps had difficulty handling a gun built for right hand folks.) it changed from an Enfield to a rifle or shotgun back to an Enfield (check out the short furniture on the guns when he’s talking to Sam (and of course they had to be blood brothers a requisite of the times). Why is it that all the white Aussies or probably Brits (as waranted in US audiences some of them are still fighting the revolutionary wars even though Britain lost and we spent 4 years together beating the worst scum on the planet, the Nazis,) This is a great 70s movie and I love love love it for all its slightly, if dated nuances, having the American lead the way, he was obviously a Ranger (see Darbys Rangers an American movie filmed in post war ((still a lot of war damage in 1958 ))Britain then sent overseas to Anzio to film the action sequences starred the enigmatic James Garner as major General then promoted to full bird Colonel Darby who lived the dream of setting up his own American Commando style Unit but he wanted to surpass there training techniques ((he soon realised he could only equal them not surpass them but I guess that depends on which side of the pond you come from, He actually stated he was surprised how hard they trained for the missions they went on and he believed the training led to less casualties, from someone who believed he could do better than us in training that was one helluva come down)). It’s funny how the opal changed from deep blue to a piece of potch as the opaleers call it, a piece of white worthless rock. I watched this movie twice straight off as I loved it and wanted to see it again to watch everything I missed the first time round. Sam Elliott was brilliant as the quintessential smoothest American hero who comes to save the day from the nastiest wanker ever in a movie plot and don’t think I’m anti Irish (I loved James coburn in Duck you sucker with rod steieger a fantastic slightly black comedy about an IRA man in the west please watch this movie). As I said at the start Sam Elliott has a voice synonymous to westerns and narration never equalled or surpassed by anyone else ever and no matter what anyone else says they’re wrong and no buggering about. Period, He’s one of Hollywoods Greats like Coburn, Garner, Stewart, Robertson, Steiger, Cagney, and many others whom I beg forgiveness but it’s 1am in the UK and I’m totally knackered as we say here. Sam Elliott richly deserves all and more of the accolades heaped upon him, he’s a fantastic actor who I love dearly and I hope he rests in peace after a life so rich in bringing joy to others in particular this Englishman who sometimes finds American war movies to much in the we won the war with no help from anybody else especially in the pacific there’s very little about the British and more so rewarding the Commonwealth forces from Australia, NewZealand, Tasmania, New Ginea, India, Burma, and to say nothing of the forces from China and the occupied territories that operated out of places like Australia and hidden camps like the Burmese resistance and the Chindits, the only 3 movies I found where back to Batassi with John Wayne and Anthony Quinn , the flying Tigers with Errol Flynn and again John Wayne and the wackiest ship in the army with Jack Lemmon, Ricky Nelson, Chips Raffert and there’s like James lond (Oscar Goldman in the bionic man) brilliant actors who all deserve the acting accreditations they received in there lives. I hope they all rest easy knowing they are loved by me especially for the joy they’ve brought me over the years. I thank them from the bottom of my heart. With lots of love to them all

His M-16 when they drove through the front of the bar fires more than 100 rounds, he pulled the magazine out checked it and put it back in!

I know stop being picky but good people this is the town I live in and have done 4 some time, but I digress have been told I do so, first time I have seen this, settles back grabs a beer and refrains from further comment, will be hard but will do so. Good old VK V8.... The 308 sleeved down to 304ci. Awesome little motor when mixed with the 1350kgs it pushed. Miss mine so much. If 10% of me ever expected my Berlina to balloon to today's prices. I'd never have sold, or treated it as I did. To this day. Still one of the most comfortable and nimble cars of the 2 dozen plus, I've ever owned... *sigh*

I can't believe that this movie isn't available for viewing under it's true name. The cast of characters are awesome and of course the great Sam Elliot makes it even better. Thank you #SecretsOfTheUniverse# for posting it.

Sam Elliott movies are pretty good, he as the . On the. same level, The Quick and The Dead. I'm 73 and a fan of Sam in movies and TV Series.through his career. Thanks

Great movie
With lots of love to them all
Sam Elliot is so gorgeous man still got better with age has whole package ❤😊 always a favourite ❤ definitely talented but definitely sexy ❤

I am a huge Sam Eliott fan and nobway was that his best film!!
Sam is really good. I have never seen a Smith & Wesson 44 Magnum with a 30? round cylinder. I have seen multiple times firing a lot more than six without reloading. His M-16 when they drove through the front of the bar fires more than 100 rounds, he pulled the magazine out checked it and put it back in!

I have never known a .44 missing so many times……. Near fifty years mine has put meal after meal on my family table from deer to bear and never a miss!!! WOW!!!
Good movie with a great cast. It was good to see John Meillon even though his was a fairly small role. Some great shots of the Australian outback too. This movie has it all.
Awesome movie
Song at 1:15:00 doesn't seem to fit the setting, the time. Must have an updated sound track.
Love a good ending
Amazing,Sam out in the bush for days, gets shot sick in bed for a week or so,and remains clean shaven baby smooth skin…Im sure glad that the Sam Elliott of the future is going to be scruffy long hair bad ass😁

Hello from Lighting Ridge NSW AU here black opal country , just saying ,there is never the great of the last opals ,they have yet 2 be dug believe that to be the truth , the morning star plus a few other name stones where found about ten years after this movie was filmed and released...great movie for its time though and there be a lot of truth in the monetary value of name opals. sorry 2 rain on the parade but not even filmed in the ridge I was here in that time ....looks like a main street out of a Hollywood movie .aggg forgive me it is my mistake. I know stop being picky but good people this is the town I live in and have done 4 some time, but I digress have been told I do so, first time I have seen this, settles back grabs a beer and refrains from further comment, will be hard but will do so. May I just add this was a time when Australian movies where just gaining traction worldwide.
Went through all of that over a damned Rock. It wasn't even worth a million dollars.
Lightning Ridge is famous for producing black opal. Opal ridge is anywhere, outback NSW.

I guess old Sammy hasn't done too many action flicks
Great to see Sam Elliot in this, but sure wish he could shoot better. Lots of shooting but I don't think he hit much.
18:45 Boy o boy. That six shooter sure has a lot of bullets in it. I'm not sure he ever has to load it.
How many things are wrong with this movie? A much shorter answer would be what's good about this movie. The female costar is nice looking. Other than that, it's 20 minutes of my life I'll never get back. That's as much as I could take.
