Exactly! It's funny how many of these "beginner videos" start at the 2nd or 3rd level, leaving out the basic shown in this video>

Umm this might seem like a silly question, but, what happened to 4? Why not 1,2,3 - 4,5,6? Why does he count 1,2,3-5,6,7?

​@@wheelie6424 and 8 are a 'pauze count'. It's a short moment when you do 'nothing'. The 4 and 8 are great - as opposite to movements on 123 and 567. Later you can can emphasize on 1 and 5 after that short moment. It's all about balance between action and rest. Like the rest of life. 🥰

I had my first salsa class last night and i was TERRIBLE 😂 I came here so i can practice at home. I was making ALL of the mistakes you mentioned. Thanks a lot, great video!

why does something that looks so simple, is so difficult to execute ?! I went to a dancing club last night, my first lesson, total disaster. even with personal help from two instructors, could not bring my feet to do these simple moves. even a wood plank could dance better than me. then again, surely there are other things in life, that I can build my confidence on...

Well my story, all my Co workers are of Spanish and haitian decent. And they're having to much fun at work dancing to salsa music and I'm extremely jealous 😂😂😂😂. Now I'm here trying to learn, guess who will be joining the party in due time lol

You explain this so well! I was always confused as to what to do with my hands and body. As a total beginner, other beginner videos that I've watched, has me soooooooo confused! The instructors always do the videos at a pro level. Having said that, it makes me feel like my body and feet are total opposites and without any fluency. But with your video, I could clearly understand and see what to do exactly! Thank you so much!!!

Covid quarrantining brought me here. No regrets😄 P.s. the teacher's explanation and demonstration were top notch.

i have tried several videos on youtube . almost alll english tutorials failed to teach basic steps . either they are focusing on counts or only on styling . i failed miserbaly to undersatnd basic steps . however some other language instructors are quite good in their method but i couldnt understand langauge . this however is quite good for absolute beginners like me . thanks you

I struggled with the whole thing until I saw this and how the stepping with the foot was the key

What I like about this channel is your music is synced to the dance. Most of the other salsa tutorials overdub music but it's out of rhythm with the dance and makes for a more difficult lesson. So, 👍 great job

I'm missing an explanation for the hip-movement. How do dancers make move their hips? Especially the salseras ;). Otherwise, it's a very nicely structured course. I wish I had an instructor like you at the beginning of my salsa journey. I'm a fan of your Martix.
