the film told a real STORY. Like Fried Green Tomato's did and other well written films. Your right, what a cast. It was a joy to see them at the top of their talent.

Just watched Steel Magnolias today on tv. Such a timeless classic

I bet being on that set was amazing. And Sally Field is still underrated. Shirley is a badass.

Those 6 wonderful actresses formed a close bond with each other on that sat & the director & crew learned quickly to back off & let them work out the challenges with their scenes. Love all of them, but especially Shirley.

Today be 30 years ago that film movie, still greatest classic film movie ever made. Once saw it on video and later before dvd and blueray DVD came out. Truly amazing artist all them and actors. Too. All come together. All need be Award all Women in film and men. Did fantastic job. Nice look back great memories of classic film movies. Thank You. Every time watch it kind feel bad why Sally Fields Daughter die near end. Julia Roberts was great . Love see all actors and music artist come together. Award for this film movie. In Golden Star 🌟 though years still truly amazing film movie. A plus , 100.%. Hope comes out on steelbox Collection box. Dvd and blueray DVD together. Thank You.

I think she meant 1988 where they first met and shoot the movie and released it the next year (1989).

Yes. Filmed in 1988 and released in 1989. Sally accidently said 1998. It happens. It was 30 years ago. Can you really laugh at her? I know if I was up there in front of a crowd like that I'd be nervous as hell.

We knew what she meant, which is why no one-the exception being you- corrected her. And actually Steel Magnolias was filmed in 1988, shortly after Julia’s breakthrough role in Mystic Pizza. It wasn’t released until 1989.
