Now that a few years of past, how do you like the gun? Can anybody tell me more about the finish? Is the rifle accurate without being Bedded? I’ve been thinking about buying one of these in Remington 260 caliber, but I need more information.

Nice looking rifle. If I had a rifle licence though I think I would go for a wood stock I think it's the traditionalist in me.

I agree, feels good in the hand. That is sad that you need a license to own a rifle, doesn’t seem right to me. All the best

I can appreciate but a very nice rifle and how light it is. Carbon fiber is really cool on a lot of things but for me it doesn't really work. I shoot a heavy rifle much better . Much more accurate. Especially if it's a heavy caliber. Do I have a real difficulty holding a light rifle steady. So for this reason as cool as it is I would not buy one. I think the coolest rifle right now is the Tikka t3x Arctic which is heavy but it's super cool for me. I love the fact that they're making it for the Canadian rangers. My favorite Sako is the Bavarian. I just think the Bavarian 85 is such a beautiful rifle. I would get one in a 260 Remington. Thank you for your video enjoyed it.

Old comment, but I have a 25-06 Bavarian and it's all around just a great rifle. It doesn't have ejection issues, in fact the only issue I have with it is ejecting too hard that it slams the neck of the case on the back of the receiver. It's a really solid rifle

I wish you would have included an accuracy teat at 100 meters with 5 shot groups. When looking for a 6.5 PRC mountain rifle I looked at the SAKO Carbonlight and chose the Browning X-Bolt Pro carbon stocked rifle instead. It had more features and I knew it was an accurate rifle with a stainless action and stainless factory lapped barrel. I was correct about the accuracy. With Hornady 143 gr. 6.5 PRC "Precision Hunter" (ELD-X) ammunition I get consistent 1/2" to 3/4" five shot groups at 100 yards from a bench rest. P.S. All Browning X-Bolt rifles are expertly factory glass bedded over carbon fiber bedding blocks.

Can you tell us the weight of the stock alone?

  • @ThePaultap

Don't damage the stock whatever you do!......I've handled a brand new carbon light stock that had been dropped, this resulted in small crack in the pistol grip. Neither GMK or Sako would honour the warranty on it, so the owner was forced to purchase a new stock. Absolutely ridiculous considering Sako participated in a video showing a new Carbon light rifle being towed around by an armoured vehicle to prove its strength! This is exactly the same rifle as a Sako finlight with the substitution of this stock for the normal synthetic one, The finlight is available for around the £1600 mark so one heck of a premium for a lighter, more fragile stock. I have also seen a video from New Zealand were the rubberised outer finish on the stock had worn through, due to being carried a lot!

I don’t understand why people like composite stocks, wood gives a bond between shooter and rifle that plastics could never produce

You sure about that controlled round feed? I thought all Sakos were push feed

Tikka rifles are push feed the sako has its own control feed design, the rim of the case slides into the bolt face at the 6 o clock position similar to the Mauser claw, it’s a superb design, also the box magazine can be feed from the top like a floor plate making it probably the most versatile action available today.
