Zen and the Art of Wooden Boat Maintenance... Great choice! See what a couple of hours with Cunliffe and a canter around the marks in an wormy wooden sloop will do for the soul. Don't let the knockers put you off - well found wooden boats are pretty easy to maintain and the type you're looking for are still pound for pound the finest sail boats ever built. Barney Sandeman or the guys at Wooden Ships should be able to sort you out. Best of luck and remember; the Zen in cruising a heavy displacement, full-keel, wooden gaffer more than makes up for the lil extra TLC needed. When you find one, if she hasn't already got one, part of the Art is to invest in a sturdy full boat cover at the outset. Looking forward to the next chapter! Peace.

"Buy a classic boat" - do you mean a wooden boat? Two of my friends each bought wooden boats and both are pouring thousands and thousands into fixing them up. One is nearly bankrupt and the other could have bought a brand new yacht with all the trimmings and had money left over. Wooden boats truly are money pits. Having said all that, congrats on completing the first step of your adventure. [Edit: KZread plays the videos in reverse date order so I have just seem Matt's announcement in the previous video. I look forward to seeing what you buy. Nova is a lovely boat, but at least she is staying in your family]

Hi Mat and Paige I have missed your videos lately and wondered what your plans are? It’s been quite a long time since your last upload. Any news?

A real change for just a year. What Mathew lost in hair Paige has gained. His was light colored and hers was darker in the beginning and now hers is in between, sort of like a combination of the two colors.

Love those early shots, time for a style and colour?

No-one buys a classic and heads off. you buy a classic, then rebuild it, and then, if you have any money left (unlikely), you head off. Best of luck with it, I'll still be watching.

david sharpe hi David we just bought a new classic yacht and have taken a few months to earn the funds back to keep on sailing. This was always our plan, earn money, set off to sail, earn money :) we will be back to filming our new adventures.
