Gear ratio, land rovers have super low gear ratios hence the reason why even with a smaller engine they can crawl out of almost anything. ....also why they often snap their sideshafts, basically a tractor, of course weight and traction play their part as well

Haha. If they would have put weight into the Defender to get them on the same level of weight, the defender would pull it away like the patrol was reversing.

The defefender always has the 4x4 on instead the patrol sow the defender is a perfect 4x4 for regular people the patrol is a perfect 4x4 for crazy people becuse it's a war machine and is powed by 6cilinder turbocharde that was lots of torque ...

I think it's more to do with tyres. Had the LR had the same for more aggressive tyre treads it would have been an early LR victory.
